We are thrilled to share with you the next chapter of HLH and welcome our new vocalist Josh Raven. We crossed paths with Josh at a pivotal point of our soul searching and he has inserted such a positive shift within us. We took a deep dive down the road that got us here, and imagined what that would look and sound like with this fresh energy and enthusiasm. We have rediscovered a deep love for creating and a positive environment to share ideas. We took a step back and returned to the fundamentals of why we started this in the first place, the music. This next chapter will explore sounds and ideas that are inspiring and motivating to us as a collective, and we look forward to sharing this process with you all.

Heaven is about the weight of living in our society highlighting the confusion and polarization of our generation through religion, culture and politics. More than ever it seems harder for people to just simply co exist and there’s a heaviness in every community about who or what idea to trust.

I’ve been feeling this confusion within myself a lot these past couple of years, and the key lyric “Heavens no place for us” is highlighting this challenge, while pointing out how we have forgotten to focus on love and acceptance instead feeding manipulation, pain and corruption.

LYRICS:

Doomed, doomed
Heavens no place, heavens no place for us
Doomed, doomed
Heavens no place, heavens no place for us

Listen to the voice in my head
I walk with the dead
The shadows they just keep coming
Death is hanging on every step
I keep losing grip
The shadows they just keep coming

There’s no one to save us, nobody made us
We’re victims of our own design
There’s no one to save us, there’s nothing here

Doomed, doomed
Heavens no place, heavens no place for us
Doomed, doomed
Heavens no place, heavens no place for us
Blood on our finger tips
Mandness is poisonous
Angel or a devil tell me which ones a heretic
Doomed Doomed
Heavens no place, heavens no place for us

Do you feel the panic?
Running to the emptiness
It gets you so high

Do you love the power
I see it burning in your eyes
Is it true, is it lies?

There’s no one to save us, nobody made us
We’re victims to our own design
There’s no one to save us, there’s nothing here

Doomed, doomed
Heavens no place, heavens no place for us
Doomed, doomed
Heavens no place, heavens no place for us
Blood on our finger tips
Mandness is poisonous
Angel or a devil tell me which ones a heretic
Doomed Doomed
Heavens no place, heavens no place for us

I think what brought me to HLH in the first place was Trenton's unique voice. That is what captivated me to this band. It's not a bad single, but not quite what I was looking for. Uniqueness, Josh, sir, welcome to the band, but please don't play it safe. This song is safe... I want to know what you can do! Show us!

This songs decent im not as gutted as I thought I’d be. I don’t think it’ll ever be the same for me but I’ll still listen. The lyrical ability and uniqueness of Trenton’s voice just sat him on another level to other vocalists. This dudes got a great voice but he’s just another good singer in another good band. I really hope the album has that special something the previous ones did.

This song is an absolute banger. I don't know what everyone is complaining about.

Northlane evolved into a new band when they changed vocalists - and it was both sad to see what was lost, but amazing to see what was gained.
Best of luck guys, keen to watch you evolve!

Well, we’ve certainly got something on our hands. Gotta say, mixed feelings about the new vocalist, none being outright negative. I do find the style reminding me of some vocalists for American bands. Very interesting, but I might be alone on that one.

Beyond that, it’s good to see this band moving forward. Wasn’t sure I’d see anything from this band ever again.

It’s crazy how much of a bands sound can be in the lead singer. This is certainly not a letdown. Just different. I’m super interested in hearing him play the old stuff (lame thought, I know)

Got to admit I was super apprehensive and whelmed at first, but this has grown on me A LOT over repeat listens. I'm really excited to see what else is in the works and can't wait hear more of the new guys range!

I actually really dig their new sound. Really excited to hear more. Loving both singles and love Josh Raven’s voice (great name too). Don’t get me wrong, I loved Trenton’s voice too but sh*t happens, it’s whether you run with it or drop it and they’re definitely running with it.

I think the new vocalist has talent, but the song lyrics just dont hit.

What is the message of this song truly? All i get from it is that its a generic "our souls cant be saved", but why? You just feel that way? The lyrics of older songs held so much power and storytelling, this song just feels like it was written by the same writers who write generic pop party songs, but with an emo/alt flair to it. It feels weak.

I do think the instrumentals sound good, it definitely has some newer vibes to it but still feels like HLH, which i enjoyed. Without the meaningful lyrics though, it just doesnt hit the same, it feels like a shell of what made me enjoy HLH and why ive listened to your albums hundreds of times.

The music video didnt seem too special either, but most music videos dont feel great these days so its not a huge deal.

Idk, I want to follow you guys on this journey, but the lyrics were always what dragged me in, with the sound elevating the storytelling and emphasizing the meaning in ways it couldnt be with spoken word alone. This song feels like it wants to do that, but the lyrics have nothing of value to say that every other rock band hasnt said before. Ill give the album a chance, but i hope it actually has something to say.

from the first album, to this—HLH has gotten lost in all of this. their first album did (and still does) blow me away. saw HLH several times in dallas over the years. glad to see you all trudging on, but this just isn’t HLH anymore. good luck, all.

Josh is the Man!! It's so exciting for the band moving forward.... I can't wish you guys much more than world domination.... I love the new vibe and sound of the band - after seeing you guys kick the shit out of Max Watts in Melbourne last Friday night - the energy - the sound - the night was buzzing with fans being ecstatic for what is coming with the double album drop and you must love how much the live shows have been going off!! Love you guys!

Was wondering how this band would go with a new front man. Glad to say this song is unreal. Best released they've done in ages. I loved the old lead singer, and Love this new guy too. Win win.
