I'm 49. I was 18 when I went to Paris to see Jean-Michel Jarre on the 14th July 1990, Bastille Day. He had just released his album Waiting For Cousteau. I'd seen him before in 1988 at the London Docklands. I was a seriously hardcore Jarre fan since I was 14. So for me, this track will always remind me of walking down the road to La Defense, which seemed to go on forever, and seeing these delay towers of speakers, and then Waiting For Cousteau starting playing, and what was a walk became a run. The sheer excitement and anticipation took over. I made the people I was with run with me, we gotto get down to the front!!! OMG, this was in the afternoon, the concert was hours away. We hit a sea of people, we couldnt get any further. Millions of people waiting. A street sign was ripped down because it was spoiling the view. An ambulance slowly tried to get through the crowd and some people were climbing onto it to try and get closer to the concert. It was an insanely hot day. We spent hours just standing and waiting, and finally the concert happened, and OMG it was the most insane and intense thing I've ever seen... and when the confetti cannons went off on Calypso Part 1 it just went mental. The scale of that concert was just huge. I remember after it finished walking for ages just to get to the Arc de Triomphe and looking back and the La Defense skyline, which was still lit up, and it just looked amazing from there.

2.5 million people in Paris, on a beautiful hot Bastille Day. To be part of that is one of the best highlights of my life.

Sorry for the ramble. Thought I'd share ha ha!

I came here because my music player lost the playlist, where this track is my default go to for the start of the day. :) I've red most of the comments and liked nearly all of them. :) Beautiful personal stories, people. It was pleasant to read them. Thanks for sharing. Cheers. :)

Cousteau was a friend of my dad's - he was at his side when he passed on... they both were adventurers, explorers of our world together...this music reminds me of the infinity they must have witnessed during their travels ~ Ty to JM Jarre for keeping their worlds alive ~

I put this on when I go into a float tank and imagine I’m floating in space, looking down on earth. It’s epic for deep relaxation. Thank you JMJ

Over 10, 000 times!!!
It's almost pathetic, really.
I started listening to this track sometime in 1993 while working in New Orleans at Tower Records as a commercial artist. I've played it every night since the time I purchased it...
Even in the hospital in 2018 after my open heart surgery!!!
I even keep a copy of it on my android devices. At home, I play it through my laptop and wifi speakers. For the past 30 + years, it has literally become the soundtrack to my existence. I'm listening to it as I write this now... I know it so well that I can even hum it in my head. It puts me in a trance. To stop listening to this masterpiece would require some sort of 12 step program...lol
Literally!!
Cheers

This is one of Jarre's most memorable piece of art...mysterious, calming...
If you have a headache please take your headphones, put them on, make it dark in your room, close your eyes and play this track...your pain will go! It's truly amazing

It´s amazing we have crossed 3M listenings. Best wishes to everyone from Spain. This composition should be one of those things some put into a bunker in the ground to be saved for the future from our civilization.

MASSIVE Jean Michel Jarre fan here, my biggest musical hero, discovered through The Essential Jean Michel Jarre, and Oxygene 4 which my dad played once in the car, and this piece has to be one of the most haunting and mesmerizing works he has ever done. Makes me picture travelling under the ocean and coming across all kinds of mysterious shipwrecks. So calming and features many amazing sounds. Takes me to another world. WOW!!!
