I‘ve met him two days ago at the New Wimbledon-Theatre.
I waited with like 60-70 People after his play, at the backdoor.
He took his time for everybody and signed autographs.
When he came to me, I told him „good Evening my Love!“.
He looked me in the eyes and smiled and asked me: „How are you doing?“
I told him, that I came from Germany just to see him.
He smiled again and told me: „Well, it was nice to meet you!“ and shook my hand.
Maybe it was just a small gesture from him, and he forgot it after a few minutes. But for me, it was a moment, that I‘ll never forget.
There were also people which tried to make photos with him or asked to sign „Gandalf“ Pictures, which he didn’t like, because it had nothing to do with his Play that night.
I had the feeling, that he was sad, that people were there just for some good pictures or tried to make money with autographs.
So if you have the honor to meet him, take your time, to appreciate this wonderful person♥️

I recently travelled on a National Express coach from Manchester (couldn't afford the train fare!) to London with a wonderful Mancunian driver. With a heart of gold, he wouldn't take shit from a passenger who was disrespecting the other passengers. Good people don't care about who you are they respect how you are.

Growing up seeing this lovely man play magneto and gandalf he has always been a wise role model
If you watch the behind the seens of the lord of the rings you will see that Sir Ian Mckellen was so connected to the cast and crew and you will see that they became a family by the end of the film

I was supposed to see him at theatre playing Falstaff in Player Kings, last april. Sadly they had to cancel the performance for some person in the cast was ill...and I couldn't go again other days because i travelled from Italy. So yeah..this is my story of missing a precious occasion. I hope other ones will come in future because i love him so much he is such a treasure and amazing actor and seeing him on stage is my dream 🤞🏻
