I use the "Total TypeScript" Visual Studio Code extension developed by Matt Pocock. It essentially accomplishes the same functionality as what you described, but without requiring you to leave the VS Code environment :)

+1 for Pretty Typescript Errors extension. Saves me so much time. TypeScript Import Sorter is another awesome plugin to keep imports consistent between engineers.

Webstorm also has adding "as unknown" as a quick fix. Unsure why VSC doesn't do this 🤔

Why would I use a language with such cryptic error messages that I need a SaaS product to decipher errors?

imo, though overall DX of Typescript is nice, the error doc sometimes is hard to understand... compared to Dart (while Dart is not developer friendly for me)

When even American do not fully understand their language. I am good with my broken English
