Backstory of song. Chris's wife wanted to go out dancing and he didn't want to. He had been less attentive for awhile. So anyway his wife dressed in a red dress and heels and left him home alone to go dancing at whatever the place was called. He sat there thinking what a fool he was and had been. He ended up going to the club his wife was at and watched her dancing. He said he fell in love with her again right then and there. Finally he approached her and they danced the night away. The song is about that night when he thought he was going to lose his wife.

I wish they still wrote songs like this. The 80's music will NEVER be matched. The heart, soul and pain that went into the lyrics is untouchable. Long live 80's music and memories. Someone please take me back there!

Such perfect lyrics..
It reminds me of a girlfriend I had in Jr high (1990s) that passed away. I remember this song with her at the school dance.
She was amazing

My father loved this song. He.played it over and over again when I was a child. I could sing this song in my sleep. I think I owe my sentimental side to my dad. RIP Dad. Love alwayss❤

Erin I will never forget you, every time I listen to this, I see you, your lovely auburn Red hair, your Gorgeous smile that would light up an entire room when you entered. Only pictures I have of you was from my Daughters wedding, you looked so tall with your hair up loosely, in that Red dress. Sadly by 1997 we lost you to a horrible heart condition in your early 20's. You had found the love of your life, and were so happy. Guess its true, when they say only the good die young. But I learned before the Daughters Wedding how you loved this song. I know you are in heaven, you were the kindest soul, I have ever met.

"The Lady In Red"
I've never seen you looking so lovely as you did tonight,
I've never seen you shine so bright,
I've never seen so many men ask you if you wanted to dance,
They're looking for a little romance, given half a chance,
And I have never seen that dress you're wearing,
Or the highlights in your hair that catch your eyes,
I have been blind;

The lady in red is dancing with me, cheek to cheek,
There's nobody here, it's just you and me,
It's where I want to be,
But I hardly know this beauty by my side,
I'll never forget the way you look tonight;

I've never seen you looking so gorgeous as you did tonight,
I've never seen you shine so bright, you were amazing,
I've never seen so many people want to be there by your side,
And when you turned to me and smiled, it took my breath away,
And I have never had such a feeling,
Such a feeling of complete and utter love, as I do tonight;

The lady in red is dancing with me, cheek to cheek,
There's nobody here, it's just you and me,
It's where I want to be,
But I hardly know this beauty by my side,
I'll never forget the way you look tonight;

I never will forget the way you look tonight...
The lady in red, the lady in red,
The lady in red, my lady in red,
I love you

There IS something about a lady in red...It's mysterious, mischievous, and down right beautiful. You have to wear it right though. :)

There's this memory that's stuck with me, from back when I was 17, at this party in Manipal, Karnataka, in 1995. It was the first time I heard this song, and it just hit me, you know? And there was this girl there, too. We didn't really talk much, but her presence just added to the magic of the moment. Even though nothing really came of it between us, I'll never forget how I felt in that instant. It's like the universe was playing cupid with the music and our fleeting connection. So, yeah, even though it wasn't some grand love story, that memory still holds a special place in my heart. Go KMC! 💐🎉🐍🙏🍎
