Unwind in Crete's Lovely Lassithi

Some truly authentic Cretan charm awaits in the lovely little town of Lassithi. Somewhat removed from the crowds, this easternmost part of Crete is the place to relax against a backdrop of turquoise waters lapping an endless swathe of golden sand and where the scent of citrus carries on gentle Mediterranean winds. Vai Beach is amongst the best beaches, extending outward from an exotic forest of palms toward the sea's edge. There are others such as Istro and Elounda, which are perfect for swimming, bathing and cooling down on hot summer days.

Besides the beaches, Lassithi has many opportunities to experience some unadulterated Cretan charm in quaint mountainside villages and small towns which are a world removed from the tourist areas and where life rolls by with the seasons as in olden times.
