This is a common grounding issue with amps. Plug a cable in, and put your finger on the end, it’ll usually stop the hiss. If not, you probably just need clean power. That’s why they make dedicated “clean power” adapters specifically for this reason. Without clean power, I’ve never had an amp not make this noise when turned up.

I have two of these. One is noisy like this, the other very quiet. Too expensive to fix though.

It turns out that this background noise from the speakers is not a malfunction, but a technical feature of the combo amplifier? This is the norm for him. Other amplifiers were noisy as well. I bought and I also have a similar noise. Much has been written about this issue, but the manufacturer did not respond. Most likely this is his feature.

Deal breaker? Don’t expect perfection with something like this. Does it take pedals?

Not sure what we're supposed to be listening to? It's just transformer noise.
