38 Special - 2024 Tour - Tuscaloosa, Alabama 05/12/2024
Opening for Rick Springfield, 38 Special brought their 2024 Tour to the Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
After more than four decades together, 38 SPECIAL continue to bring their signature blast of Southern Rock to over 100 cities a year.
And at each and every show, thousands of audience members are amazed by the explosive power of the band's performance.

With sales in excess of 20 million, most associate the band with their arena-rock pop smashes, “Hold On Loosely,” “Rockin’ Into the Night,” “Caught Up in You,” “Fantasy Girl,” “If I’d Been the One,” “Back Where You Belong,” “Chain Lightnin’,” “Second Chance,” and more – Timeless hits that remain a staple at radio, immediately recognizable from the first opening chord, and paving the way to their present-day touring regimen.

Man, “ Hold on Loosely “ and “ Caught Up in You”soooo take me back the early 80s, being a 10 year old kid riding around in my Dads 280zx with him and this blasting on Q102 in Dallas Texas in between Journey and Sammy Hagar cuts. Just me and the old man and the open road. Our family was happy and healthy. Those are some of the greatest childhood memories I have to this day.

I got to see them live once, about 7 or 8 years ago. I blasted .38 Special in my car all through high school, and it never gets old! Being quasi retired, I finally got the nerve to pursue one of my life's perceived unattainable dreams of playing electric guitar. Now, not quite 2 yrs in, I learned Rockin' into the Night and play it all the time! Still a kid at heart, I guess. I'll have to learn the solo, eventually. They still rock!

I got the chance to open for these guys in my hometown of Shakopee Minnesota. I've been playing in bands for ten years and this was the highlight of what I very loosely call my "career"...as I was carrying my stuff back to the car, Don Barnes was just coming out of the bus and saw me walking with my bass on my back and my pedal board case. He went out of his way and kind of trotted towards me and said "Hey, y'all sounded great! Keep on playing man." and I got one of his picks to add to my collection of bands I've played with or whatever. I stayed for their show and was absolutely blown away. All I'm going to say is this: Old, but CERTAINLY not obsolete! These guys kick so much ass live and I was blessed to be part of it just for a moment.

Aren't they amazing?!? I saw them at the Texas Motor Speedway back in April. They played before the NASCAR race. I figured they'd only play a few songs, but they played an entire set. It was great!

I was the limo driver for 38 Special Oct 21, 1991 Bone against steel tour out in Lancaster Pa.
Donny Van Zant, Jeff Carlisi Danny Chauncey, Max ( second chance writer) and Larry the bass player plus the drummer...
Drove to 3 local radio stations in Reading and Lancaster 16 hour day for me.
Next night was the gig at the Lancaster Days Inn conference center- back stage passes for a friend and I !
