Perfect spot to snipe . Sniping is very productive. Find the crack or crevice where the gold caught. Break and cracked bedrock. The gold is so malleable it squshes down even the thinnest cracks

Jason, that's a new spot to look for Gold. Something we have never heard about from Dan or Jeff. Makes sense that Moss would be a collector. Similar to the mat in a high banker machine. Thanks for telling us another secret to your success.

Find and clear off bedrock and look for gold in the cracks. A mask and snorkel, screwdriver and a bulb snuffer rigged with a straw extending up into the bulb has been my most productive way to find gold. Save the pan for you finds from sniping . I usually war a wetsuit and a weight belt. I would lay face down in the creek and use a rake to move over burden down stream.

I'm super bummed to learn I can't pan in most public locations in WA outside two weeks in august :( I loved panning on the weekends in CA, but i cannot for the life of me find a place to do it in southern WA.

Years ago on Denny creek there was a very large tree next to the creek. It feel over and the water had rushed into the root cavern. The roots were on bed rock but the neat thing was a layer of shist. Dark red and lots of iron pyrite. I would love to go back and sample that shist.

Yeah it you like wetsuits and a snorkel you can go a la Pioneer Pauly and go sniping. But that moss looks like a good natural sluice.
