0:10, The diary was Voldemort's first horcrux? But I recall hearing a theory that the ring was the first horcrux with the murder of Tom Riddle seinor, then he asks Prof. Slughorn about having more than 1 horcrux, with the diary getting made at the end of that year with Murtle's murder

This is the biggest stretch video they’ve ever made. Even when they were talking about it on ttgd it was annoying. “Tom wasn’t a muggle born” no but he was still raised by muggles that IS enough reason that he would have bought it. The important person the diary belonged to was himself “lord Voldemort most precious most important” that is me paraphrasing him from Deathly Hallows, he was that vain to think his own item is that precious. The whole reason why the diary in particular is so strong is because it was his personal diary that he used and poured his heart(? For lack of better phrasing) into, “why would he with pure blood mania buy a muggle book?” This is as easily explained as it is for Myrtle he was home for the holidays and decided to start writing about the chamber of secrets- maybe so it could be found years later when he wouldn’t be expelled for having done it, maybe the original intention was exactly what it ended up being he just hadn’t planned on making it a horcrux yet. It was just meant to be a log of his finding the chamber and how to open it, instructions for the next heir to carry on the work, maybe keeping track of his attacks. Maybe he had to buy it from a muggle store because he got a small allowance from the orphanage and where would he have gotten wizard money from? Or maybe he just wasn’t able to get to diagon alley or maybe he didn’t want people to know he bought a diary. There are a thousand more reasonable explanations than what was put forth in this video, yes it’s plausible that Myrtle had a diary I just don’t think that some teenage girls moanings (get it?) about being bullied in school would be a “trophy” that Voldemort would think was worthy of being a horcrux.

Though, if it was Myrtle’s diary, wouldn’t she have recognized it when it was flushed down her toilet and maybe she’d have said as much when she saw it? (Then again, when that happened, I guess she was feeling a bit too emotional to really say anything helpful or to see what had caused all the trouble…)

I have been a Christian pastor for 30 years now. 20 of those 30 have been in parish ministry. Now, I live in the U.S., so we don’t really have, “orphanages” today, but remember, this was taking place between the two great wars in Britain, where there were orphanages. In my experience, around the holidays, many people want to give to the less fortunate. What better way than to give to an orphanage? So a patron would have called ahead, asked for every child’s name and age and then would have purchased a gift for every child. All of the reading age children would have received an embossed journal so that they would have at least one thing that they could claim as their own. This was his one possession that was his, and his alone. It had his name engraved upon it.
