These investors represent the most important factor in the market, as they are the major participants in it. If we look at the stock of any company, we will see that the FII and DII are the biggest holders of the same. The FII and DII also tend to be the most important participants in the stock market, as they are the ones who provide liquidity to the market. The market of a country is made of the stock market and the foreign exchange market. When it comes to the FII and DII, the two are linked to each other. The FII and DII are the most important participants in the stock market of any country.

It happens because of many factors. FII generally buy Index heavyweight companies whereas DII mostly buy midcap companies. So nifty makes big moves when FII buy or sell in cash market. Also cash market are generally taken for long term positions. In medium/short term FII move the market by playing the F&O. For example, market was in oversold in May and June as FII s had more than 70% short positions in index futures and generally short term market reversals r triggered by the short covering and long windings in both Future OI and options OI.

a simple explanation can be that maybe the FII's & the DII's were not dealing in the stocks which come in the nifty 50 thus showing an inverse relation.

First thing Indian Hni's invest at lower level, second thing fiis invest in index heavy weights, final thing diis means retailers only they invest mostly midcap, smallcap & penny shares..simple answer for all your questions

@Harsh Goela: Since it is not mentioned on which stocks they have done buying and selling and also it is net buying and selling figures and not the exact ones so it is possible theoretically that Nifty 50 stocks got good buying during the phase where both have sold their Net holdings in midcap & smallcaps... Hence it is showing overall Negative but still market is showing green

If both were -ve in April..that means someone else must have bought and that entity is promoters. Promoters was buying in April hence market started to go up!

ab uhone becha ya kharida ye vo jane lekin market uper gaya hai isise hame ye pata chalta hai ki uhone apni short selling ki position ko square of kiya hai jiske liye uhnone buy order punch kiya or market uper gaya ..

I feel so that FII looks for opportunities on global level whereas DIIs look for domestic level . Fii look on the overall market like nifty nd sensex and dii look into each parameter. As everyone in the market is for the profit. That is the reason they act opposite to each other

when fii and dii both sell still market goes up that may mean retail people had bought direct stocks and fii and dii are opposite in most cases because maybe when fii sells dii acts as a shock absorber and fii buys dii thinks it may be a good time to offload some shares . Sir 2020 me corona ne dastak di thi aur sarkar ne lockdown jaise chize lagoo kardi at the right time of 12:00 aur market pehle to girgai Chinese virus ki afwah se and suddenly pepoles are active to break their bank savings, provident funds and fixed deposite etc because of corona is a serious topic and pm modi is appealing to live at homes "DONT GO OUTSIDE" jisse market me liquid money gayab hi hogaya aur corona vaccine ke opration me sarkar ne patahi nahi kitna buged loss kiya after a big success but ghar bethe log kya karte bethe aur dekha ki Tata motors at 95 and bank of baroda is 34 rupees sorry agar me data wrong hai to but they had a beutiful amount tha and shares are cheapest as possible theirthey got un opportunity to buy some shares "not as profesnally but as a experiments" they reach and market demand is continuous .
