Norman Rockwell was truly one of the most talented American artists ever! My favorite works by Rockwell are The Four Freedoms, His “Triple Self-Portrait”, and Rosie the Riveter. 🇺🇸🎨🖼️❤️😁🦅 Other amazing and talented American artists that I admire are Georgia O’Keeffe, Andrew Wyeth, N.C. Wyeth, Edward Hopper, Jackson Pollock, Frederic Remington, Clyfford Still, Jacob Lawrence, Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat, John Singer Sargent, Charles Russell, John James Audubon, Man Ray, Thomas Cole, Frederic Edwin Church, Grant Wood, Thomas Hart Benton, and more.

Rockwell and Frazetta are the two artists I heard the most about growing up.

Norman was an awesome painter. I know that’s obvious but he’s by far my favorite painter of the 20th century..

I remember in elementary school have several copies or reprints of the Saturday Evening Post cover hanging around the school as well as other copies of pieces of art. Sadly none of them are still there.

Interesting story!
How about a biography of Frank Lloyd Wright? It seems like that one is so interesting, you must have already done it and I missed it. I'll drop this here and go look for it.

Correction: Rockwell's last Post cover appeared in May 1963, a portrait of Gamal Abdel Nasser. The one published after Kennedy's death was reprinted from 1960, when he was running for president. That's why he was looking at the camera. Also Kennedy's official portrait actually depicts his brother, Robert F. Kennedy.

While visiting Massachusetts, I visited the Rockwell home and studio. I spent more than four hours there, and it was fascinating. He really is an iconic American artist, maybe the most famous that every American can name.

What an important artists...artists have tried to duplicate Rockwell but all fail to capture his magic... critics who dismissed him as a mere illustrator and not a real artist, Rockwell imho added far more meaning and cleverly applied paint to canvas, he added a mirror to our culture that made us see and feel ourselves, appreciation for the tender micro moments, and the happenings around us that we mutually witnessed and felt less alone with...we bond through those paintings by Rockwell having each and every one of us resonating with the story of the images actually adds each and everyone of us to each of those paintings...You can't even say that with Picasso or Carravagio. Van Gogh is the closest that comes to mind...imho

Great video. Before comments on matter, I have been watching quite awhile, before transition. I enjoy your presentation, but moreover, you are responding to comments. This is a rarity, especially when channel is off the charts - also the ....?.... Great bio on Rockwell, clearly a n excellent artist that lived in a circle in which he excelled with great praise - the latter being his power. Nostalgic art evokes emotion/belief in what is or isn't, but powerful and profitable. He used both well it seems. Thanks again for your presentation!
