The facial expressions and jaunty recreation of Charlie Chaplin Gloria pulled off is honestly a really endearing moment. I like that it shows how much Norma really admired her peers' performances during her stardom and wasn't singularly impressed with her own films. She obviously would have been a really big Chaplin fan to mimic him so well.

Gloria was brilliant and one of the great stars of silent cinema. Her 'comeback' in Sunset Boulevard was amazing. I just read her autobiography; What a life! I admire this woman, so ahead of her time. Thanks for this clip, dear Veronique!

She should have won the Oscar for this!

I think when she is describing working on the Follies at 0:25 it's the happiest she seems in the entire picture. You can just her it her voice. It's different, like she's harking back to a simpler time. And btw her Chaplin impersonation is very good. What a talent!

The reason why this scene is great is because you can see Charlie Chaplin exactly in her performance. His facial expressions, facial muscle movements, finger and leg depictions. What a great actress she was.

The writing and the acting in this picture is just about as close as you can get to perfection. Norma’s remembrances and the pathetic delusion in which she lives is so incredibly portrayed by Gloria Swanson. I really believe that one of the main reasons she didn’t win the Oscar is because Hollywood recognized the not so subtle yet very accurate criticism of the way it chews up performers and leaves them to their fate once they’re no longer useful or lucrative. A fabulous film if there ever was one.

She is cute as Charlie Chaplin :-)) She even get his "Hat greeting" at 01:40 and his boyish grin at 01:53 right.

The song hummed at the beginning was "Sobre Las Olas"

I want a girlfriend like Gloria Swanson. She sounds cute and sexy when she tells him to close his eyes.

What a mean take down of Louise Brooks!
That's the reason the Charlie Chaplin scene exists.
The whole movie is meant to attack Louise Brooks.
