People drive in cities with windows rolled up and doors locked, but drive through a predator lined road with the windows down and the doors unlocked

I grew up in the safaris of kenya where such animals were a common thing in our village, we were told if you see a lion and it looks back at you never run, just keep an eye contact with it, no matter how hungry it is it won't attack, but if you see a leopard, my friend run as much as you legs can carry you, leopard are very hostile, they don't want to see anything breathing, that's how I survived growing up together with this animals at maasai mara, we would wave at lions as we walked to school, I love those days

I don’t have to run faster than the lion, just faster than the guy next to me..

You are playing with your life by riding in these vehicles.

Essentially, what this video is saying is that if we all stay calm, we are seen as "part of the big vehicle that is too big to attack" and are OK, but if one person moves the wrong way because they panic, are not properly taught what to do or are trying to get a better view, the predator may realize we are separate from the vehicle and either attack or get curious. I don't like the odds on this, so if I ever go on safari, I will do it in a vehicle with windows / mesh / bars that will protect me if things go wrong.

With all due respect, some years ago I was personally present (i.e. IN THE VEHICLE) on two different occasions when we were "attacked" contrary to what this video is portraying. In the first instance, while in a safari 'van' a fully grown male lion attacked the rear of the vehicle, in an attempt to 'get at' the people sitting in the last row inside. Only the lightning fast instincts of our driver saved them, but not the rear of the vehicle which was severely damaged, the "safety steel mesh grating, literally torn off". Adult Male Lions are VERY strong!

In the second instance, a middle aged woman was sitting near the window behind me when 'out of nowhere' a leopard appeared, reached INSIDE, and literally tore the poor woman's arm off and ran off into the brush with it's 'prize'. Unfortunately, the lady immediately lost so much blood, that she went into shock and expired before we could reach competent medical assistance. No one saw the leopard before the attack, and where it came from we could only speculate. My personal belief is that it came from the trees overhead.

Lastly, I disagree with the video's conclusions entirely. I was once astonished during a trip thru the Masai Mara, as the sun began to set, to see a solo young boy head off towards his 'home' straight thru the same exact area in which we had been watching a number of lions resting during the day. He was carrying only a small knapsack and a long spear. Fearing for his life I notified one of the attendants who turned, looked, and smiled before explaining that to 'become a man' in his tribe he would have to kill a lion with that spear! Apparently the local prides were well aware of this, and as he entered the fringe of the brush, we could see the lions scattering to get out of his way, as he nonchalantly continued on his way. Contrast that with the instructions given us when a Hot Air Balloon in which I was riding with my father and ten or so other persons, got swept away from the intended landing site ( where a formal dinner had been set up); and we were carried by an unforeseen gusting breeze across a river (full of crocodiles and hippos which we could clearly see from above:) and into an area of tall brush where we literally crashed and were drug some ways on the ground before finally coming to rest. Some of the passengers had been injured during this 'landing' and were attempting to get out of the balloon which was laying on its side while the wind kept periodically trying to drag us further thru the brush. Our 'captain' immediately called out to physically restrain anyone attempting to exit the gondola as there were lions and other predators known to be in the area. Weaponless, I was NOT optimistic of our prospects, assuming it was going to take some time for the ground support crews to first figure out where we were, and second make their way across the river and then thru a relatively untraveled area....ALL of this during the fading daylight hours.
As we waited we could hear " activity" all around us, and I am NOT talking about as the predators were presumably considering what to do with this "surprise food basket" that had mysteriously fallen from the sky right into their laps LOL. Trying to keep the women (and some men) from crying (a sound that REALLY gets the attention of large predators) during the next 20 minutes or so was well, shall I say, a bit stressful.
Fortunately, the 'cavalry' soon arrived, armed to the teeth, and making as much noise and commotion as possible, and we were all safely evacuated back to the site of intended 'outdoor meal' :) (Thank god for Toyota Diesel vehicles with snorkels, and determined Wildlife officers and tribesmen!)

As for myself, I chose never to travel thru predator 'country' in ANY kind of an open vehicle such as the video depicts. Of course you are free to make your own decisions.

Tourist: "being in a vehicle is safer than you think"
Bull elephant: "are you sure about that?!"

The answer is actually pretty simple, the lions work for the safari companies & are briefed each morning as to when & where the cars are going to be & what act they have to pull for the day, its all a set-up, we've been conned 😁.

I don’t think these people understand how powerful lions are

All it takes is one lion that thinks a little differently, and attacks, and then they will all do it

Why not have closed vehicles for safety. Makes more sense to me.

I was on safari in South Africa many years ago and we were in a completely open vehicle. The ranger did not even carry a stun gun !We saw all kinds of animals including a female rhino and her baby. The little one was obviously showing off to impress us, rolling around and looking at us to see if we were watching.Another time we were surrounded by a whole herd of elephants. The matriarch with her little one passed really close to me and looked me in the eye.It was an unforgettable, almost mystical moment for me.A week later, after I had returned home, I read about a group of tourists on safari in South Africa who were attacked by elephants and a woman was killed. I then realised how lucky we had been !

The first shot gives an excellent idea of just how large these cats are. And that’s a female!

I have noticed with Rotwhiler dogs, if you chase them in anger they run from you and if you run from them in fear they chase and attack you. They are good at reading if your afraid, or angry, or indifferent. I have been in a standoff with one and he somehow seemed to know where my property line was, stayed right outside of it looking for an opening to attack. If I had turned my back to the dog he would attack so I was stuck there until the dog gave up and walked away.

Am I the only one who thinks Safaris are too dangerous and are not worth the risk?

That lioness opening the vehicle's door and the lady screaming inside. 🤣

We went to Kruger National Park a few years ago, and saw those tour vehicles without any protection at all. There is no way we wanted to join them even if they paid us instead of we paid them
