We discuss the relationship between the witch Agatha Harkness and her familiar, Ebony the black cat. Ebony has the ability to shapeshift into a large wild cat, and Agatha uses him to gain the power of visions by having him consume a special plant and then eating him. This practice of using animal companions to gain powers is unfortunately common in Marvel comics, as seen with Vision's wife Virginia and their dog Sparky. Thankfully, Ebony has since been brought back, as no one likes when an animal companion is actually gone.
