A text in Jèrriais by George F. Le Feuvre (George d'La Forge) recounting memories of the lives and loves of Jersey people working in the fishing industries of the Gaspé coast in Canada. Read at the monument commemorating the historic links between Jersey and the Gaspé situated at the harbourside in Saint Aubin from where so many Jersey people left on their trans-Atlantic voyage.

That´s cool! I don´t know anything about frenchand didn´t understand a word, but I think it is always great to preserve old languages and dialects....
Especially for you guys between Britain and France it is probably good to know that language, as part of your identity and for the communication with you neighbours.

Keep going, teach to younger generations!

Wonderful video! Thank-you for sharing this with us! It's beautiful. In response to Richard Anger, Gaspe is not French, it is bilingual. My maternal and paternal lineage are from the Channel Islands and we all grew up speaking English. My people were expropriated from Forillon National Park, in Gaspe in 1970.

What a pity! Quel dommage! Les liens entre Jersey et Gaspé sont rappelés sur la pierre uniquement en anglais. gaspé is French speaking ...including of course the Jersey peolple who settled there.  Remember Jersey is bilingual! Merci à M geraint- Jennings pour son discours en Jerriais.
