Brilliant guitarist/songwriter and band leader. Saw them on the 1st tour in '79 at Shaboo Inn in Mansfield, Ct. Fabulous show! I found out later that they had booked the gig before Sultans of Swing had hit worldwide and that they honored their booking of $1, 500.00. That is integrity.

I remember the first time Sultins of Swing was played on radio in requests kept it playing all weekend and better than floating round in a pool with a tinnie listening 😂

DSL nothing. I watched John Illsley at my local village' annual free-festival where he and his band played mostly Dire Strait's songs! John's voice sounded remarkably like Mark's and it was absolutely brilliant. And all for free in a tiny village with a few hundred people packed into the village green. :)

I lived through those 80s and 90s years of Dire Straits and to me I just wish to remember them as they were. Fantastic memories of an exceptional artist and band. Thank you Mark and the band. Your memory will live on for eternity.

Saw Mark and his new band six years ago at The Royal Albert Hall in London. It was largely Folk, Tradional and Country based. Lots of acoustic stuff.
But a great night. Terrific on stage musicians and Mark in tremendous form, both guitar playing a a range of string instruments, and great vocals.
Very polished and professional concert. Full house to a very appreciative audience. Oh and he did play quite a few of the big hits. 🙋‍♂️👏👏👏🇬🇧

I completely understand his position. He has moved on long ago ; Dire Straights was a brilliant creation of the past and ran its course. Mark is exactly where he wants to be and that’s how it is…
