Consumer confidence indicator

How much confidence do you have in the direction that the Belgian economy is taking?

This is an important question.

If you don’t really have any confidence, you will doubtless want to set your money aside out of fear for the future.

On the other hand, if you feel more confident, you won’t hesitate to buy things that you enjoy buying.

Your level of confidence therefore has some influence on the economy, one way or another.

And the same goes for all Belgians.

To get a reliable idea of the general level of confidence, the National Bank of Belgium surveys about 2000 Belgians every month.

They are asked questions about prices, unemployment, purchases or any money they’re planning on saving.

Once the replies are processed, a numerical value – or an “indicator”, as it is known – emerges.
