if its a matter of national urgency then RAF assets are available for the PM.the conservatives were spending public money as though it was from their personal wallet.

I cannot believe he’s copping flack for this. We’ve had 14 breathtakingly miserable years of spaffing public money. And now, Starmer’s copping it for using public transport. Perhaps his PS actually plans well!!!!
And what in the name of Jumping Jehoshaphat is ‘performative hairshirtism’?

Wait, so he’s stopped giving our money to a private helicopter firm and we are angry about it? Britain is a weird place. Like Camelot.

Utter nonsense. If he needs to go long distance then he can take a plane any other trip is quicker by train or car. This was always about Tory vanity, remember the police running either side of sunak’s car.

I’m ex-British Army. 12 years, inc active service. I consider myself to be a socialist for our times. Robust defence policy. But heavy taxes for top earners. And nationalisation of key industries. The public ends up paying back into Britain via consumption of efficient services . I’m not convinced by this Labour government. I’m a fan of Yvette Cooper who I’d have preferred as PM. But: I’m with them for a year. No government that I can think of (Barack Obama’s if we go stateside) has had to pick up such a chronic, almost wilful abnegation of public duty. So, many socialists will see me as phoney, but I want defence, and I want a support mechanism for the country’s most vulnerable citizens. Housing. Health. Reasonable wages. For all. And defence of the realm at the most difficult geopolitical situation since WW2.

Helicopters are a pretty dangerous form of transport

Where does a PM need to go in a hurry? Their days are mostly planned out months in advance. If he does need a helicopter in an emergency I'm sure he'd use a hired one, he just won't be using them as standard travel like Sunak did

If only we had a way of communicating over distance without having to rush from place to place. . .

Tory voters complaining about a lack of "grown-upness". The irony

I may be being naive but I have faith in Starmer. I hope he does well for all our sakes.

But, if our country is so safe why wont they use public transport why do they need private security. Let's see king Charles walk through London or Bradford if its all going so well 😅

Helicopters are more dangerous than trains, planes and cars.

I can't stand keir but this isn't the issue.
