Dignity... Do You Have It?

Aaron Marino of alpha m. says that dignity is being worthy of honor and respect. This word, dignity, kept gnawing at Alpha while developing the Confidence Course. He wants to discuss the concept of dignity.

Dignity is having pride and self-respect in ourselves. If you don't respect yourself, nothing else matters and you can't be your best. Self-respect dictates how you handle yourself in situations as well as how you handle other people interacting with you. To truly have self-respect, you also have to have self-esteem. Self-esteem is how you feel emotionally about yourself.

When Alpha looks around the Internet, social media, and TV, he's concerned that people have forgotten what it means to have self-respect, self-esteem, and dignity. He says that people are seeking constant reassurance which ultimately doesn't lead to you feeling better about yourself.

You need to feel like you are 'somebody' because you know it: You love yourself, you believe in yourself, and know you bring value. The only thing that matters is you being a good person, having good character, and having dignity!

The concept of dignity is abstract; however, all you need to feel fulfilled because the person you are ... not because of the reinforcement from other people. We need to not rely on others to make ourselves feel whole or good. Our self-esteem should come from being a good person, not because of what others say. Until you have dignity, you won't live the life you potential could.

When I was going through a breakup, my father told me to have some dignity and get to work.

This is something that has stuck to me, and it helps me overcome rejection. Self respect and self esteem is the key to life.

"You have to respect yourself and have a sense of self esteem before you can give your best". I couldn't agree more! I observed this most plainly when I was engaged in work that was both demeaning and unnecessary (fast food mainly) - serving food that I myself would never eat. It was paying my bills, but I had no pride in what I was doing and I spent all my free time seething in anger about my lack of prosperity. Even if you only earn 25k/year, it is better to serve a worthwhile purpose doing something you are proud of than compromising your integrity doing something you don't believe in.

Guys and Girls. This thing spoke to me so much man. How I like to describe dignity in my own thoughts and words is this: self-respect, not needing to prove anything to ANYONE, and fucking loving yourself before anyone else on this planet. If you feel this is something you'd like to work on, take Aaron's advice and mine, and just start having a relationship with you. Before you get to know your future girl, you get to know yourself.

You're totally spot on about that social media bit. No one should determine their value or self-worth because of the attention they receive on social media. These days people are too busy trying to fabricate a glamorous lifestyle or a positive perception of themselves to impress others on social media when in reality they are just as boring and flawed as everyone else.

I really like the "you gotta love yourself" part, but sometimes i think it's not enough.I'm 17 and I'm considered like one of the most good looking guys of my school.I actually try to apply every single one of your advices in my every day life, like good sense of humour, having a decent hairstyle etc, and it actually works as in one year, my popularity went (in a scale to ten)from five to max.But i think it's amazing how looks can influence people that much.for example I know guys that are total dicks with no sense of dignity or morals, that can influence people only by standing near them. And I also know people that have the best character and sense of humour that noone seems to care about just because they're not that handsome.I think that's a little sad.And don't tell me that I'm too young to understand.

Now that I've connected to my intuition, I can read people's energy quite clearly. And let me tell ya, I only want a woman in my life that has a strong sense of dignity. I don't know why, but it suddenly became so important to me. I look at Tinder profiled for example and I've become super picky and only swipe right on the women that I sense have that natural unassuming dignified look in their eyes. It's a really beautiful trait and for me, as an empath who feels other people's energy, it's very uplifting <3

This is a great video! Self esteem also goes hand in hand with humility. When a person knows his/her strengths and weaknesses, knows that loving others means loving oneself, and is kind and loving to his/her family and friends.. THAT is where you find dignity. Dignity, Self esteem, and Self respect are like checking accounts, you have to keep tabs on it, or you find yourself overdrawn. The penalities are arrogance, low self worth, and destructive behaviors.

It feels nice to end a video without an end bumper. I don't feel brainwashed at all after watching this.

This is true stuff. My senior year of highschool was totally bad because I let mean and degrading comments define who I am. It was even coming from friends. While I didn't show it, my self esteeem was really low. Highschool's over and I said bye bye losers; New me, New opportunities!

Having pride in who you are, that's a real issue some nations have to face, they always say they do but never act like it.

Alpha, this is the best video ever. It speaks to men as well too women. I though world forgot about this word called ''dignity''. I am glad to hear there are still people praising this value.
