Hey friends, today’s video is all about NotePerformer 3. It’s an AI-based playback engine for Sibelius and Finale. It takes contextual cues and other inputs, like technique instructions, dynamics, articulations, divisis, etc. and creates fantastic playback.

Well done young man, I wish I could have studied composition and orchestration when I was your age. I’m 63 years old and learning so much from the young people about music. I’ve played piano and guitar since I was young and always wanted to compose music but never though I could because I did not go to a great music conservatory or collage. Now that I can afford the daws and vst libraries, I find watching these videos have given me a new hope to become an amateur composer. Thanks for posting

I find that deselecting "Live Playback" makes it much better. I also use the digital mixer to pan instruments around.

I am a percussion performance major about to start my Masters and just wanted to let you know that the first way you pronounced "crotales" (before the correction) was correct. At least this is the case in all percussion circles I have interacted with thus far, though this may be another instance of Americanization of Non-European percussion instruments (as tends to happen). Anyway, irrelevant information for a video over a year old lol; great video regardless and I'm interested to give NotePerformer a try myself :)

Outstanding tutorial. I used to love Sibelius way back when I first started (Sib 3, lol). I noticed in the version I bought in 2018 how bad the sounds are. Thanks again.

Note Performer is very cool. That being said, the sounds from Sibelius Player w\Virtual Drumline are not too bad. I use both as there are special effects in Sibelius player that I am unable to access in NP

I was looking something like that for a long time. THANKS!

Good to watch your overview. It's a pity the developer's User guide isn't more intuitive as it doesn't go into a bit more detail especially how it interacts with the Mixer. I am working with organ music a lot and I'm sure there must be settings I haven't discovered about how to adjust organ registration. If you could find the time, I'm sure a more detailed tutorial would be much appreciated by those of us with less expertise than yourself.

1:12 yes the noteperfomer one is far, far more realistic than the default one, but i really-really love the default one, maybe because it sounds like that old 80s-90s game soundtrack, it sounds really nostalgic and epic

i was thinking about even going a step higher with playback realism. Make the composition in e.g. sibelius + noteperfomer 3.. then once done, export the composition as musicxml to staffpad and load up the instruments from the addon libraries (berlin series, spitfire etc) and let staffpad do the playback for the final render.

Hey, great video! I notice that NotePerformer has decent string sounds, but the piano is definitely lacking. How would you go about making a realistic piano sound? Would you have to fire up a DAW and use a sample library? Thanks!

Great video! Do you know how to get logic or garage band sounds available in Sibelius?

Great job Carlos! It makes one wonder why AVID (or indeed Steinberg) won’t simply include NP with their software. Id also kindly ask your opinion on the best way to combine Sibelius 2020 with Spitfire’s BBC Symphony Pro - It is a great package for the price, but I wonder if there’s any point in trying to make it work alongside a notation program - or simply use it within cubase and go through the tedious job of creating a separate sequencer version of my scores... your opinion would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks and bravo again for your amazing channel

Hi. Thanks so much for showing these sounds. I wonder how it works with Jazz. Is it possible you can do a demo of that? Thanks

I dont see any other option in "Configuration" but "general midi basic" in my Sibelius... How can I enable this other option...?

I'd like to sent you a question. I started to work with Sibelius. I have a Yamaha PSR-S970. Sibelius recognizes it as mid out? Thank you.

Is there a Note Performer type plug in but for Jazz/rock/Latin/Pop instruments...?
I'm mostly interested in different (but realistic) drums and keyboard sounds.
Thanks

thanks so much for this! i have a noob question. will my scores that are all using Sibelius 7 sounds just start using Noteperformer sounds when i install it and select it under configuration? or are there other steps? do i need to allocate each instrument/channel again? that could be a lot of work to go back and do to all my scores :/ thanks for the help!
