I'm rocking a 1993 Ford ranger with just over 500, 000 miles. It's got the original engine transmission and rear end! 2.3l 5sp 2wd It's been my daily work truck for about 13 years. No tics taps or raps and doesn't use a drop of oil....💪💯🇺🇲

Hell yeah! Still rocking my 97 D21 4 banger 5 speed 2WD. Only 2 owners. My pops and myself. She is sitting nicely at 450, 000 miles and still has way more to go. Truly an amazing truck, would recommend 10/10 not giving it up for anything or anyone.

I've spent half my career fixing S 10 pickups and blazers. Some days I would walk into the shop and there was one on every hoist. Intake gaskets, oil cooler lines, ball joints, fuel pumps. Plugged heater cores, Typically any time one would come in, you could find $1, 500 worth of work.

My 2005 Nissan Titan with 200, 000 miles is still towing like a champ.

7.3 powerstroke diesels are what we run mainly at my job. I work for a tow and wrecker business… I have to say I’m madly impressed by some of the things we have managed tow with them 7.3 powerstrokes.

Genuinely surprised to see no mention of any 300ci / 4.9L i6 powered Ford Trucks so far. Those were known to run forever with little maintenance. There are many stories of how they just wouldn't die when they put in the engine killer solution back during Cash For Clunkers. Every other vehicle would die after a couple minutes of idle, and be towed out the the salvage lot, but all the 300 i6's would go back there under their own power.

in Afghanistan I drove Hillux, never had an oil change, others had fueled it w aircraft diesel with additives, had sand dunes on the dash, missing chunk out of frame due to hitting roadside mine or drove into deep flooded ditch (whichever story u choose to believe)…I fell in love absolutely with Toyota.

The toughest most reliable workhorse truck I ever owned was a 60's 1 ton Dodge power wagon with the 383 hemi and 4 speed transmission. The one that was equal to it was an old 1 ton international with a 401 v8. I have never had anything more tough or that could take as much abuse as those trucks. We used our Internationals like tractors. In fact when we got a tractor stuck, many times we used the international to pull them out. My power wagon used to push through heavy brush and push over smaller cedar and pine trees and bust drifts. Can't do that with new trucks.

We are currently on our 4th Ranger. They’ve proven to be durable pickups with the exception of the 3.0 V6.
Our current Ranger is a 11 XLT super cab 4X4 with the 4.0L V6.
Before adding the K&N intake and the FlowMaster exhaust as well as a free flow exhaust manifold, I was getting 19 mpg on the freeway with the cruise set on 75mph. Now with the mods I’m consistently getting 23mpg.
We get 5-6 feet of snow every winter and our Ranger has never gotten stuck.
It’s now 12 years old but has only 35K miles on it.
I change the oil every 4K miles with Kirkland full synthetic motor oil and I change the front and rear differential, transfer case and transmission fluids every 30K miles.
I guess this is why we get 250+K miles from all of our vehicles.
If I didn’t need the hp and torque then I would have opted for the 2.3L 4cyl naturally aspirated engine. Those 2.3L can get 500K miles easily.
Not only does our Ranger haul a yard of gravel, dirt and fire wood, but after the intake and exhaust mod’s, it now hauls ass too. 😁

You lost me when you said "According to JD Powers." It's all about who spends the most $. The data can be manipulated any which way to fit their narrative. Kia and Hyundai with all their engine issues top the list? Mini is #11 above likes of Mazda, Subaru, and Honda? I guess I am old school and keep the car forever. In the few studies I looked into, the "problems" are stuff like wind noise, slow infotainment boot up time.

2010 Tundra SR5 extended cab 4x4 owner. I own a lawn care business & pull a trailer daily. 260, 000 miles so far and I haven't had a single breakdown. I always change the oil myself at 5, 000 miles with Supertech 5W20 synthetic and a Toyota oil filter, never replaced transmission fluid. Replaced the drive belt once so far. Never flushed the coolant completely, but I've replaced a gallon or so a few times. I installed a new water pump a couple years ago because I heard a bearing squealing. Two sets of factory spark plugs, countless sets of front brake pads & rotors because they warp easily and the trailer I'm sure is to blame. I'll buy more old Tundras for as long as I can find them.

On Jan 31 2001, the last day of the year I purchased a 2001 Ford Ranger Super cab XLT with the 4.L V6 and 5 speed auto, I was 60 years old, and my retirement present to myself, today at 81 years old that same truck is sitting in my garage, still looks brand new, with its matching canopy, oh yeah it has only 58, 462 original miles on it and the only work done has been regular runs and drives and looks like brand new, yeah I took the original tires off at 16 years and replaced them just because of age. been a great little truck !!!!

2005 GMC Sierra 2500 4x4 crew cab w/Duramax LLY and Allison 5-speed. EGR deleted, LBZ turbo intake and PPE tuner mild Power Level 2. More than 425 hp and 810 TQ. Over 357, 000 miles. Accelerates well, very reliable. Great truck.

My kid was a service manager for dodge and Ford. His take was "Dad, you buy a Ram and I'll disown you." He also knew the Ford diesels before 2011 were terrible.

The 'Legendary 7.3' Power Stroke made by International for Ford should've been 1st on your list - NOT last! My first one went 827, 000 miles with ZERO FAILURES before I sold it to a landscaper who's STILL working it to this very day, rusty body and all. My 2nd one was totaled at 450, 000 and the one I have now is a baby at 195, 000 miles!

We had the Ram V10 where I was stationed to tow things. We had other trucks to get around in, but one day that v10 was the only thing available for me to run tasks in. I hopped in it for the 1st time, started it up and pressed down on the gas and spun the rear tires. Like a kid who'd just found $5 in the house, I was like "ooohhhh It was powerful and fast for its time, but it was heavy as a tank and when it hit bumps, you felt all of it. After driving it a few times, I felt it was best suited just to tow loads because that pickup had almost toooo much power in it when it wasnt towing extra weight. Basically a Viper engine thrown into a hooptie.

I’d have argued the manual transmission offerings on Dodge’s part. Their is a lot of manual transmission 2nd and 3rd gen Rams floating around if you don’t mind paying a bit extra. I have a 3rd gen with a 6 speed that hasn’t given me a single hiccup it’s whole life
