The importance of identifying AH amyloidosis in patients with normal free light chain levels

Показать описание
Morie Gertz, MD, MACP, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, comments on the importance of diagnosing immunoglobulin (Ig) heavy chain (AH) amyloidosis, explaining that a significant proportion of patients with normal levels of Ig light chain can have heavy chain amyloid deposits. Consequently, Dr Gertz encourages clinicians and hematologists to consider the possibility of AH amyloidosis when they show symptoms associated with monoclonal gammopathies in the presence of normal free light chain levels and ratios. This interview took place at the 64th ASH Annual Meeting and Exposition congress in New Orleans, LA.
