A Top 10 List counting down the 10 most surprising College Basketball teams of the 2019-2020 season. A surprising team is one that plays better and accomplishes more in a season than they were predicted to. I evaluated these teams based off of preseason expectations and in season results. However, there was no specific "metric" used to rank these teams, so feel free to debate in the comment section! Also, the game I highlighted for each team was not chosen for any specific reason, it was just one of that team's best wins/moments. Don’t forget to check out the honorable mentions in the comments! Enjoy!

I feel so bad for all of these teams, but especially Dayton, Rutgers, and SDSU. Odds of them duplicating their seasons are exponentially small. Wish they could've gotten a chance to show what they're made of

God my heart still breaks for poor Dayton. They were final 4 bound for certain!

Keep in mind the order of the teams doesn’t just have to do with how good they were, but also how much better they did this year compared to how they were expected to do in preseason predictions and rankings.

FSU is one year wonder All Heels next year

FSU should be higher. They were unranked and not on anybodies radar preseason but ended up finishing top 4 and having the best record in the best basketball conference.

This was BYU’s best team since Jimmer. I think we would have at least been a Sweet 16 team, ESPN actually had us in the championship in a simulation. What could’ve been

Anyone who was paying attention before the season was not surprised by Dayton. Most commentators were talking about how stacked Dayton was during the early stages of the Maui Invite

I was at that creighton game. My ears are still ringing. One of the best and loudest venues I’ve been to

SFA should be there too, 28-3 with a win against (then) 1 Duke, and a 19-1 in conference, and they almost got in the final AP top 25.

Surprising the 4 teams I expected to make it none of them made the list ( Richmond, Little Rock, Illinois, and West Virginia )

Little Rock and Merrimack also had quietly unreal seasons, Merrimack won the NEC in its 1st year as a d1 school

If Nathan Mensah had stayed healthy, SDSU probably would’ve ended the season as an undefeated #1 seed. Sucks we never got to see it, he was due to come back some time during the Tourney.

If BYU played every game in the tournament like that, they could easily win the whole thing.

It's a rough time to be a Gators basketball fan. Gators #1 in most disappointing, FSU in most surprising.
