I'm seriously considering one of these augers for my new gold prospecting trips. The soil conditions where I go are very rocky and fairly hard, compacted dirt. My interest in one of these would ONLY be to drill test holes. (I have a spade bit Milwaukee chipping hammer for excavation). I'd also be very tempted to cut the diameter of the auger down to about 4". I'd test pan the loose stuff. Your thoughts??

I bought one and I put it away for awhile. I went out to test it yesterday and it looks like its leaking oil and gas. Any thoughts? I know its been sitting for awhile.

never used liquid moly but it has become very popular here in Australia
what actualy happens to the old gear box oil? break down or leak out?
