Mine still starts up. Needed to get a primer bulb but years later, yep, still kicking. I even used it to dig a trench. That took a lot if time but still faster than a shovel.

Anyone tried this with really clay heavy soil? Or somewhere with a high water table?

I can't even get mine to start even after everything on the trouble shooters guide. So ANGRY!

Just to follow this up. If you’re a medium/small Frame woman. I do not suggest this auger at all. After I fought the starter chord for well over an hour it FINALLY started. I will say it did infact run well once it finally started. That being said I farm and work horses daily. I’m not a weak woman. But this thing got stuck in the dirt, not even a foot deep and twisted my arm around. Currently in route to the ER. Pretty sure it snapped my arm. Highly disappointed and DO NOT RECCOMEND.

Could I use this to build a fence around my yard?

SPEND THE MONEY AND GO WITH EARTHQake or toro who have 5 tyear warranties and stand behind teh product-- itt iis much much cheaper over these cheapies- i went through 5 hf augers- bolts fell out of them, the carbs fell off, the gear box winds up sounding like grinding broken bits and they dont last. the carb adjustments will change on thier own and if it runs away it can snap out of your hands-- possible breaking them, , these things are crap- teh warranty is over 60 bucks and you got buy a new warranty everytime you exchange the unit--- not mention your fuel getting to hf--- so my 5 cost me over 1000 bucks... my earthquake on sale 225.00 and i put a quarter mile of fence posts in and not one issue. it rock hard clay
