2024 Pivot Switchblade Review | Pivot Pushes The Envelope With Its New 3rd Generation Switchblade

For 2024 Pivot is ready to unleash the 3rd generation Switchblade. It may initially appear quite similar to its predecessor, but a raft of updates to the frame, geometry and suspension platform have merged together to elevate its descending capabilities and overall appeal.

To test out the new Switchblade, Wil was fortunate to be invited out to Phoenix in Arizona, home of Pivot Cycles, as part of the official launch. As well as getting an intimate look at the R&D lab where Pivot designs and manufacturers its stunning CNC machined lugged and carbon-tubed prototypes, he spent three days dodging cacti and smashing into rocks aboard the Switchblade to see what it’s all about!

More $$ than basically any 250/450 moto on the market. Just crazy stuff.

Crazy pricing. Check out a used pivot. I really enjoy my 22 switchblade xt xtr. Excellent performance.

Nice work Wil 👍. Never ridden a Pivot but I aspire to one day and the Switchblade is probably the model I'd pick if given the chance. Must have great to test the latest Switchblade on Pivot's own test trails in AZ. How close is the switchblade in climbing performance to the 429 and how close is it to descending performance to the Firebird?
Another contrast I'd be interested in hearing about how the updated dw-link compares to the more affordable dual link Giant Maestro platform?

They’re still using press fit BB? Is that a cooling fan mounted at the base of the downtube?

The small 2024 Switchblade is getting very close to the medium 2020 Firebird in geometry. This might be might upgrade

“Pushing the envelope”. It’s a very minor, minor update. Minor!

Do they run internal cables through 24K gold sleeves or something?? How can you justify charging $18K for any All mountain bikers complain about pricing and the industry is having clearout sales and then these guys are just BOOM!!!! We dont give a crap where the industry is heading

I bought a Pivot Switchblade in 2019. Amazing bike but it started creaking a couple of years ago. $1500 sunk into it so far trying to resolve the noise but the creaking keeps getting worse. I'll never buy another Pivot.

Starting at $10k is a joke.

Time for you guys to review more affordable bikes that don't require selling your kidney!

They aren’t doing anyone a favor now adays by giving the big time bloggers/reviewers top of the line bikes that only the 1% ers can afford….but even bottom specs are over 6k lol…just crazy inflation

So expensive and still no in-frame storage and I have to endure a PF BB? No

Yeah 10k+ for pressfit 😂. For 6k you get an beta xtrainer 300...for 4k more you can add the finest Suspension and have even more fun

To be honest the downside is the supper boost! Only three manufacturers might use this. Having a rear wheel with a supper boost is a big challenge if you are in the middle of no where. Even many bike shops do not carry supper boos wheels. Honestly I looked at pivot and for me is a big no no. Similar to mixed wheels. Supper boost and mixed wheel for typical buyers is a big! NO. I decided for yeti which to my opinion is a better bike. Professional XC, enduro, downhill riders are winning with boost only. Why supper boost? .

That price is just ridiculous. If you pay this for any mountain bike you've made a bad decision.
