it's sad that those who didn't answer him were those that had loosen all humanity product of the corruption and that aatrox has seen how all of them have slowly disapeared. That's why he said "I will speak for us both, old friend" to Ibaaros. But it's more sad that the corruption isn't over as some darkins as Joral are very close to loosing his mind completely because of the corruption

Tons of Darkins are his friends and comrades, and he is stuck with a Leeory Jenkins like Rhaast, two gays not two as Vaarus, and a furry Naafiri.
Top it off with Xolaani and he'd be stuck with the worst of the bunch lmao.

Imo Aatrox has one of the saddest backstories. He was improsoned as a weapon, focred to stay in the dark for decades at a time, until some foolish kid picks him up and Aatrocx takes possesion, even though the host will run out of energy to sustain him, and he will be forced back into just a weapon. All Aatrox wants is to finally die, to be free of the infinite curse of life.
