I don't get how the ETF is earning money. Is it buying carbon credits at a low price, then hoping to sell them at a high price? Directly or through futures? Can anyone explain?

So what do u think about Blockchain based projects to buy up carbon credits and solve all the integrity problems dormant in the carbon credit industry through blockchain?

Example is Klima Dao which also gives a 36000% APy

Surely there won't be enough regeneration available to do this for years? Especially with a growing population?

I understand reducing the number of credits issued each year will increase the price per credit in a free market auction. However how does that guarantee the regulator body issuing the credits making more revenue? For example if the regulatory body issues one-half the credits and the credits sell for double the price the regulator body has made exactly the same revenue as the previous year Actually less if you factor in inflation. Also how long do credits last? Does the year they are issued factor into their valuation?

Carbon Capture and storage does not seem viable if we don't prevent more deforestation and also our dependency on to burn fossil fuels. It will just be a band-aid effect.

So how does a third party investor get a return? I guess I’m missing that part… and is this a sustainable investment long term, say, 10 years?

The objective is to force or nudge companies to make changes to voluntarily reduce emissions…The further it goes the more expense it gets which results in changing behavior to reduce carbon…Government don’t make money on this sort of as is the biggest incentive for the biggest companies. Every year a company is suppose to reduce and change to something better because the carbon credits will become more expensive…
