Russian history can be summarised with the sentence: "...and then things got worse"

Finland did cut Russian gas and oil out despite getting 80% of it from Russia.

Fighting a war outside and a war within. Not a fun time for an autocrat I imagine. But you reap what you sow.

"Kiev by April" is the modern version of "It's going to be over for Christmas"
I think everyone was surprised by the outcome, but it's not over yet. Stay strong Ukraine !

I love how "Putin has relied heavily on [...] private armies to prosecute the war and that may come back to haunt him" turned out to be real just 48h after the release with the Wagner's mutiny and march on Moscow.

The popular idea about Murphy's law is "whatever can go wrong, will go wrong".
Actually, the axiom enunciated by Alfred R Murphy, a systems test engineer at NASA Dryden, was - "If there's a wrong way to do something, someone will do it".
And that's precisely what Putin has done in Ukraine...

Another epic tragedy for a country so accustomed to them.

Putin could just, you know, give up and save himself the continued humiliation of being the largest country in the world being held back by a neighbor a fraction of the size.

The winters of the last decades were ridiculous in Germany. The last time I saw larger ice flowers on the window was when I was 16, and that was 27 years ago.

Putin is using nostalgia and history as battle field logic and literally weaponry.

Russia doesn't seem to learn from it's mistakes and everytime they threaten nuclear war they just strengthen the resolve around the world in support of Ukraine

I would Certainly Not wanna be a child in Russia now, because the next 30 years the mental toll that these Russian soldier’s experienced will become Compounded and taken-out on the Russian society. As history is being written, and the fog of war disappears, the guilt will Tear the Country Apart! This is Obvious

Imagine what Russia would be like if they’d had decent leadership over the last 100 years.

First, I assumed that Russia's final target in Ukraine was the Donbass region. Then with their attempt to seize Kiev, I figured that Russia was trying to annex all of Ukraine. Then when their hopes for that dwindled, I assumed that they were at least trying to link Crimea with Russia by land. Then when Russia went further west beyond Crimea, I assumed that Russia was trying to at least make Ukraine a landlocked Country with no access to the Black Sea. Now, Russians are just trying not to be pushed back.
