The economics of the 4th trimester | Dr. Sonal Patel | TEDxOcala

Показать описание
The 4th trimester is three months after the birth of a baby more commonly referred to as postpartum. By relabeling it as the 4th trimester, society, science, and the medical community can better understand the massive changes mothers are going through while newborns are adjusting to the world outside the womb. The most alarming data in discussing the 4th trimester is the fact that we are losing more moms during this period than the first three trimesters combined. Dr. Sonal Patel explores the economic impact of losing moms during the 4th trimester, a solution that can reduce maternal mortality, and thus positively impact our national economy. Dr. Patel's journey started as a moment of exhaustion in her own 4th trimester courtesy of her 4 sons and now is creating a movement of truly understanding the socioeconomic impact of maternal mortality.
