We all know now how Rangers were spending big at the time and look how that came and bit them in the arse eventually. Wee Fergus had a plan and that plan worked. Thanks again, you were right all along. Shame on those fans who doubted you, I hope they are humble now

He did save Celtic and rebuild that stadium imo he has my respect hands down learnt of it while I was over in Glasgow for a Celtic game twice in 2022 and last year

To this day I'm still baffled why anyone would boo this wee guy, he saved our club from going bust and that is just as important as brother walfrid, maybe more so if you can even comprehend life without my dearest celtic, maybe you have to be a certain kind of supporter of celtic to be negative towards him but for me he will always be celtic, s savour and that should always be remembered. Hail hail

Even at the time I was embarrassed and ashamed of the fans who booed McCann and wanted him out. He saved the club. Just look at what happened to Rangers when they spent insane amounts of money they didn't have.

His legacy is living on through the generations. As long as the kids of today know who Fergus is, what he done for Celtic (and for them) them I am sure Fergus would prefer that to a statue.
Compare and contrast him with the media darling "Sir" David Murray.

I know who I prefer.

Hail Fergus!!

The way some treated him was a disgrace.

As Celtic fans we must push to have this man remembered with a statue outside Celtic Park.

His tortoise and hare approach of not spending turned out to be absolutely right.

Unforgivable to boo that man, shame on those that did.

I wrote to Celtic FC, and requested that a Stand be named after him. I received a letter from Celtic (which I have); informing me that that would not happen—as there were others deserving of that honour, too.
When I attended Old Firm games—years ago—I was in the West Terracing of Hampden; and the East End of Parkhead!

Should have a Stand named after him at least.

I was unhappy about our football at the time, but lets not forget Celtic Park was a dump, it was old football. McCann had a plan and if that meant cutbacks so be it, he knew Celtic had to become a modern club, and needed a stadium that reflected that. I think 1998 was the birth of everything we enjoy now, many of the squad were made into heroes by Martin O'Neill. I remember a quote from another club that I witnessed in USA. A rich man wanted to start a team, the hired Director told him, you'll lose money for 5-10yrs. If you think its hard being a supporter sometimes, think about that.
