Monica was like that becoz of her childhood issues with her mom. Her mom never treated her right and always thought she was good for nothing. That's why she made sure that whatever she does should be perfect always..

I liked how Monica showed Phoebe and Rachel a page from a catalogue of a wedding dress that she is looking for and making them memorise it outside the bridal store. I loved how she gave them a whistle till they find the wedding dress she were looking for and making them leave with the dress she wanted with a bride to be she met at the other bridal store.

Did the writers know, I wonder, that OCD is typically found in women whose mothers were constantly picking on them, criticising them, making fun of them, which is exactly what Monicas' mum does. Her Mum is a narcissist, Monica is made to be very aware that Ross is the golden boy and she is a nothing. So her behaviour reflects this, and it's straight out of psychology 101.

Oh that's a nice little detail, at 12:25 the book Monica is reading is titled "Like a Hole in the Head" and the scene has to do with her putting holes in the wall, and Rachel's comment about the wires coming loose in her head, nice touch.
