Показать описание
5 Steps to Reset Your Hot Water Heater shows how to reset a hot water heater if there is not any hot water, and the hot water heater and circuit breaker appear fine.
**SHOW NOTES AND LINKS**
Before resetting the hot water heater, check the electric panel and see if the circuit breaker for the hot water heater is in the ON position. If not, move it to the ON position and see if this hot water heater starts working. Also, look at the hot water heater and see if it is leaking water from the bottom. If so, the issue is bigger, and the hot water heater will need to be replaced. If the breaker is ON and the hot water heater looks fine, you can follow the 5 Steps below to reset the hot water heater. If you are not comfortable doing this, you can call your landlord and have them handle it from here.
5 STEPS
Step 1: Locate the access panels on the front of the hot water heater. There may be one or two panels. They are usually held in place by 1 or 2 screws. Remove the panel (remove the top panel if two panels) and set aside the panel. You do not need any more tools after this step.
Step 2: Remove insulation. If the insulation is attached, leave it attached but move it to expose the workings of the hot water heater. If the insulation is not attached, set it aside but do not throw it away. The insulation may also be made of Styrofoam which you slide out of place to expose the workings of the hot water heater.
Step 3: Find the red, reset button. When you move the insulation, you will see wires and screws. You don't have to do anything with these items. Look for the red, reset button which is usually located towards the top and center of the open space. It is the size of the tip of your finger (perfect for pushing it).
Step 4: Push the reset button. If this was causing the hot water heater to not work, you will hear a small click, and the hot water heater will turn-on. It makes the sound of a coffee maker in the morning heating the water.
Step 5: Return the insulation and reattach the access panel. ALL DONE
If resetting the hot water heater worked or didn't work, let your landlord know that you had a problem because it may be a sign that there is an issue with the hot water heater which may cause more problems in the future.
