I have a 2013 GTI w/DSG and 22k miles. It gets gets about 95% in town short trips to work and occasional auto cross duties and some road trips. Its been great so far, no major issues. Just paid it off! woo lol. I'll be buying another car and keeping the GTI as a daily driver, so long term reliability will be important.

Is there any benefit to doing the DSG service early? I know the scheduled DSG maintenance is at 40k miles, but since mine sees increased wear, I'm wondering if the trans oil should be changed at an earlier interval.

Thanks for answering my question! I appreciate the wise words Mr Humble Mechanic. It was an excellent question. You see, I tossed the ball up towards the rim, and you slam dunked it.

About the Throttle Body.
Remove it from the engine. As Charles said in the video. It is very easy. Four bolts.
After it is cleaned very well from dirt and oil you need to take it appart.
What i mean is... It has a plastic cover. Inside there are some plastic gears that motor uses to move some electrical contacts to tell the ECM in what position the throttle is.
What i found on two cars, both VAG, one Seat and one VW is... the grease, the lubrication on those gears wears out and the throttle gets "stuck" and does not work properly anymore. It moves slower that the ECM knows and expect it to move.
Just remove the cover slowly, verticaly. It has a rubber seal so, after you remove the retainers, use a flat screwdriver to unstuck it from the throttle body, then use your hands. Don't tilt it. Just pull it out verticaly. The cover is held in place either by screw or by metal clips.
After you removed it clean it with a spray. Brake cleaner or something similar. Don't clean it with anything else. Don't use tissues, rugs or anything. U risk damaging the electrical contacts. After that put a good amount of WD-40 onto those gears and electrical contacts. Don't be shy. Drown it in WD-40. After you did that, tilt the throttle body so that any excess WD-40 drips out. Don't use a rug or anything. Just let the excess drip. Not to much. Just for a couple of seconds. You want some of it to remain on the gears. And make sure that no flying debries gets inside :)
Now you can put everything back toghether and enjoy it. I did the exact same thing on two cars. You don't have to worry about damaging anything. Just take it easy and have patience. Good luck :)

I have a 2002 24v VR6 Jetta that has been sitting for a little over a year. What are the best steps to bring it back to driving condition? Thanks for the videos.

P0601, replace battery first with proper specs exactly the same as oem. No win there, replace ecm. Checksum errors happen during the boot of the module. If the module is booting up the sequence of events goes off.

On the K&N Air filters, I cleaned a lot of GM Mass Air Flow Sensors because of over oiling of the filter. Of course we had our share of sensor failures, but if cleaning the sensor cures the complaint, it's not a faulty sensor.

Got a quick question. Not sure if you will see it and I have no idea how to tag someone lol.

But here goes.

Driver side on my car. the bottom caliper guide pin is completely seized. How would I go about getting it out without damaging the rubber boot? And what would be the best lubrication to use for the other guide pins that are working alright, but still not moving as easily as they should?

Love your channel! Question, I have a 2006(2005.5) Fully loaded but just a basic light on off switch, If I buy a new European type switch (auto on that sort of thing) does it use the same harness coming into it? and do you have to use VCDS to reprogram? Thanks from Canada. PS went back to old school with the 06 because my 2010 is going back soon.

I'd sell both cars and buy a newer car. The most important thing about new cars is the chassis have become more rigid and safe, people who don't know about it should search for IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) videos. That crumbling small overlap tests make you wanna think twice about buying used cars...
