Melanin is a dominant gene it doesn't just affect skin it affects eye color and hair color we are taught blue green and hazel eyes are recessive but brown eyes are dominant it's simply about the density of melanin which is stored in everybody.

My grandpa was light skin married a dark skin my grandma and my dad was dark with green eyes and me and my brother and sister we are all light skin my sister married a dark skin man and her kids came out light skin I have twins with a japoneses and Peruvian mixed girls and my baby still look like me so the light skin gene with two generation of mixed back and of white and black now Asian
