China is not selling weapons to Africa. China is training, investing, developing Africa. China has changed the face of Africa. China is in love with Africa. Africa cannot resist the temptation. I would like to thank China for all their love and kindness.

First, most of the debts of Africa countries are owned by the west, not China. Second, China got their nature resources by paid, not like the west by forces.Third, China also built infrastructure and help Africa countries built up basically industry chains, while the west is on the opposite. Four, It's up to the Africa countries selecting the trade partners as they like, China doesn't force them(Actually, they want to learn the experience of China's development, not the money). Conclusion:The west still see the Africa continent as their garden, and has a Sour Grape mindset while the others investing in Africa. If the west solution is so helpful to their development, they won't select China. What's the sick mindset of the west, expecially USA?

Former US secretary of State must be laughing out loud when he warns to the african countries for losing their sovereignty. That's because it's what has been made by US in the whole History in the foreing countries.

My guess is the Chinese government is looking to create a friendly trading partner that can cheaply produce goods for the rising middle class without having to inflate their own currency to keep up with rising prices. It's a smart move for them because many African countries are exempt from the global greenhouse gas penalties. This will also open up the path for China to create a sphere of influence in Africa and gain more leverage on the global economy.

British and french had and have lots of interests in africa.
African knows china's investments are far better than the control and looting of UK and France. so they cooperate with china now.
then British and french are losing their business in africa, thats why these two countries always want to vilify china and split the relationships between china and african countries. They want to looting africa again.
if British can offer better contracts or conditions to african countries, of course they will cooperate with you.
that's just business competition. but british and french want to win from instigating others.😠😠😠
once a colonizer, always a colonizer!!

Here's how I see it.

Africa: We need help with infrastructure like new roads, rail, housing, power plants etc.

West: Land of shitholes. You need to listen up and do what we tell you. First you need political reform, then a regime we approve, blah, blah blah. Look at how magnanimous we are throwing you a bone every now and then in the form of aid. Be a good dog.

China: When and where? Africa is land of hope and potential. We can help with improvement of living standards and offer development with no political conditions.

Therein lies the difference. Unlike the west with their kind of superiority complex like they know Africa better than Africans, China is not trying to export their ideology or preach how nations should govern themselves like they know the history, culture and unique circumstances better than its people. Those nations that are smart enough to ignore western fearmongering will have “first mover advantage” and before you know it, with the speed of the Chinese, everything will be up and running. Prospects, living standards and economic outlook suddenly looks a lot brighter and becomes a reality.

You might even have surpluses to export to your poor neighbour, whilst those countries waste their time listening to western propaganda and are left behind. When you look at the tangible results, there’s no doubt that China has uplifted the prospects of Africa more in a few years than any western “aid” has brought in a century. Just look at what the west is doing even today, with France and Italy battling it out on who can plunder more oil out of Libya with their respective slants on the situation.

Africa better not screw up this opportunity because China is taking a big risk and leap of faith with such huge investments knowing Africa’s troubled past. This is the best chance for Africa to prove the white man wrong. You have a choice whether to look east or west. Regardless, Africa needs external help in the form of investments and expertise because there’s no way it can dig itself out of the hole in time.

My advice is to look east if you want to lift people out of poverty and restore pride to Africa. Doesn’t matter whether it’s Chinese, Japanese or Koreans. Eastern Asians have a DNA of high collective intelligence, culture of excellence and efficiency that you can learn and benefit from. Whether or not Africa prospers in the future will depend on your capacity to learn. Remember the eastern philosophy has no room for timewasters, freeloaders and half-assers. Go west for help if that’s your inclination. But whatever you do, stay away from shackles of the dollar! To be invested in the dollar is to invite death and destruction to your doorstep somewhere down the line when your interests no longer ally with theirs. Go Africa!

While the West is busy playing Chess with the world in various power struggles, and wasting it's time posturing, China is playing GO, and maneuvering it's resources and influence in global positioning for the next century. The Chinese are playing a longer, more fruitful game with long term benefits that put them squarely on the continent ready to hold ground. Who's running the Rand Corporation and other 'think tanks' and cannot see this? The US can and should act better on the world stage, just imagine if we'd thought of investing this way? We still can in South America but i doubt we will.

as Chinese ,
I feel that Africans have the ability to handle their own international relations without the worry of Western countries. As the world's last billion-dollar market to be developed, China will definitely invest huge sums of money to operate and build. From these exchanges, Africans can get infrastructure and a lot of job opportunities. China can get a part of Africa's market. I think It is a very suitable development path. The BBC deliberately discredited China's investment in Africa and has lost its impartiality as a news media.

To all the people who believe China is "colonizing" Africa: You're wrong. China is investing in Africa because China's populace is no longer uneducated or as general as it used to be so nowadays Chinese workers in China demand higher wages and are more specialized. This means that China can no longer mass produce stuff while relying on cheap labour by using the unspecialized and uneducated populace. This is where Africa comes in to play. China is simply investing in Africa because Africa is home to a populace that aren't specialized and usually will work for low wages.

There's a huge difference between "colonization"(see Congo Horrors or basically any African country during the Scramble for Africa and colonization period), and simply investing while expecting something in return in the future.

As the African economies continues to grow, and as the untapped potential of Africa is being discovered, China cooperation with Africa is bound to grow even bigger .

The intentions might seem suspicious but China is actually looking towards the future. If the whole African continent can learn from them maybe they'll catch up with the modern society in a few decades...maybe or should I say hopefully. Stay united Africa. It's time to rise
