I really appreciate this video ! You took some of the mystery out of the slide out I have. I only recently bought a 9 year old . ( trailer). I’m going to go ahead & get a cover/canopy? Installed soon . Rainy weather is about to start and I don’t like bringing in a wet outer structure inside. Watching this made me see that those rubber Wiper Shields need to be looked at on mine.
A timely video

Great advice, I had a issue with my slide coming in crooked, I looked it over closely and realized that the manufacturer did not drill holes on one side of frame to allow wear tabs to be installed. No holes no wear tabs . The other side was drilled and tabs installed. When moving the slide the rack would lift up to high causing the gears to not mesh and allow for a crooked slide . I guess for the first few times I moved the slide I got lucky . Being full time I was 3 weeks without my home . Dealer removed the room completely drilled holes and added wear tabs . How does the manufacturer miss such an important step .

Thank You! I have serious concerns about my 2005 KIT COMPANION 328F 5th Wheel, since it's so old & I'm too old to do maintence/repairs...other than gather tips & knowledge like you provide. Best Regards from your neighbor in Tehama County, CA.

How to you remove old sealant caulk so I’m not putting new on top of old without damaging anything

Its a good idea to once a year go around your camper with your sealant gun.

Great video! Question.. I recently was doing maintenance on my roof and had the slide out. I noticed a round piece of foam that came out from under the sweep seal. I didn’t really know what to do with it other than to push it back under it and hope it doesn’t keep protruding in the future. Was that foam piece supposed to be connected to something? I have a Jayco 295bhs if that helps..

Excellent video. Where the caulking is cracked or separated would you remove the old caulking before resealing?

It is sad that a few pieces of flashing could eliminate so many problems. A little flashing above HW tank and furnace will eliminate problems.
The ends of slides could both benefit from some flashing at the bottom.

Is it best just a Pull The Olde sealing off like around the stove vent and items like that on the outside and reseal versus going back on top of the old ?

What was the name of the tape used along the inside edge of the slideout? Turbon or something similar?

You know there would be ZERO LEAKS EVER! If the CRIMINAL RV "manufacturers" would just simply practice basic fundamental water shed engineering, and stop eFFING overlapping materials from the bottom to the top! It is not that hard of a concept! They need to stop assembling water traps!
