Ukraine to get new defense minister, says Zelensky's adviser. Ukraine’s military intelligence chief, Kyrylo Budanov, will replace Oleksii Reznikov as defense minister. Reznikov would be transferred to another ministerial job. The shakeup coincides with fears of a new Russia offensive this month. There was no immediate statement from Zelenskiy on replacing Reznikov. Oleksii Reznikov became defense minister in November 2021. Also, President Zelensky has refused to veto a controversial, new military law.

This was announced on Monday by the official representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov.

"In the Donetsk direction, in the course of successful offensive operations, the volunteers of the assault detachments, with fire support from the missile troops and artillery of the Southern Group of Forces, liberated the settlement of Nikolaevka of the Donetsk People's Republic, " Konashenkov said.
