I firmly believe it is social media.

My ex-girlfriend and I had a fantastic relationship for several years before she downloaded TikTok. She was a small business owner, and she initially downloaded it to try and bring more traffic into her company.

It was IMMEDIATELY afterwards that she started talking about the patriarchy and how women are oppressed (she came from a well-to-do family and I paid all of her bills after we got together, so not sure how she was oppressed at all) and started seeing sexism in EVERYTHING.

The last year of the relationship was hellish. I couldnt speak to her without her saying something about "all men are manipulative and want to control women." This was a woman who was allowed to do whatever she wanted, whenever she wanted, and somebody else ALWAYS paid for everything.

Social media literally poisons the modern woman's mind.

I'm 62, married, and retired, and I can do any of those things she described on any given day. No constraints, no disturbances, no problem. But on the days that I don't want to keep to myself and do all of the things that only please me, I have grown children, and their spouses, and many grandchildren that give so much spice, color, enjoyment, camaraderie, love and purpose to my life. Much better than just living for me! She can't know what she's missing as she hasn't experienced that yet.

Always made me laugh how "shaming" is a terrible thing...but responding by telling people to commit suicide...is totally fine. You can demand an individual kill themselves, so long as you don't dare shame them.

She is convincing herself she’s happy, not anybody else. She brings up not having a husband or kids multiple times, every sentence. She chose to put this out on the internet and she got feedback… it happens. Don’t want the world attacking you, don’t put your whole life out to the world. she can diss people for being married and having children but no one’s allowed to publicly disagree?? .

I got tired of drinking, going to clubs, and concerts, at about age 22. This weird thing happened, I had just done enough of it; lost interest, and “matured”. Go figure. College was a lot of fun and alot of hard work; and I made plenty of mistakes, learned from them, and grew as a person. It was a great experience, and I learned a lot about people, compromise, and myself - but I’m really, really glad it’s over.

It’s not that she doesn’t want millions of people to view her content. It’s that she only wants “yes men” to view her content who tell her that she’s amazing

Had my first baby 15 months ago. Sure i spend my evenings doing dishes and packing lunch for daycare etc but my life is infinitely more meaningful. When i put him to bed and he falls asleep on me i just hold him in awe sometimes

I'm a 31 y.o. woman, and I wouldn't mind having a kid, but I'm afraid of how bad the world is now. It's not just unsafe (I know it always has been), but it seems more depraved than ever and all of the schools are nuts and the technology is too accessible. Plus, I really don't think we can afford to give our kid an awesome life. I don't want my kid to be poor 😔

I think Matt hit a nerve there, it hurt because there was an element of truth to it. If you're really happy about who and where you are in life you wouldn't give a toss about what somebody on the internet thinks.

Being a parent is a very important role and job. What is therefore stupid is having children if you don't want them. You are married with children. It is not for everyone. Nor should it be. Marriage and parenthood is for those who take the institution of marriage and having children seriously. We've already know what happens to neglected and abandoned children.

She's 29. It's not always easy to envision your entire lifespan. The fulfilment she gets from her career and family and friends might be good enough for her and might be for others. As her career changes, friends marry off, family relocate, pass away or whatever else, she might be able to source new forms of validation. Having children is not the only source of validation, but I do say I believe the gap it covers is immense and might require a lot of other things to have an equal impact. As a man with no kids, seeing fathers cycle with their little daughters hits me in a different way.

They seem to believe people with children don’t understand what it’s like to be childless. Like it’s some deep mystery they’re revealing.

It’s funny because the way she describes her evening shows that she thinks the world revolves around her. She thinks her life sounds amazing - to me her life sounds like a nightmare. Getting drunk, staying up till 1am, waking up past 10am hungover, then spending your morning scrolling social media and making a TikTok video. No thank you, that’s a nightmare. That girl’s life is so empty and she doesn’t even realize it. Sad really.

I have to tell 64 male, never been married...live for that's not watching TV and making egg dishes! I feel I've contributed so much to my job and benefited society and added Gosh, I could never sleep till 10 am, be hung just be slothful and that's what she's speaking doing nothing, pap, nothingness. That woman....on the view, is vile.
