Boko Haram have even pledged allegiance to IS. They are trying to establish a caliphate just like IS. It’s the African version of the what’s happening in Syria and Iraq.
BUT, it’s Sub-Saharan Africa. Need I say more. Those countries are never high on our priority list. If they were, we could have prevented the Rwandan genocide. I’ve got to admit I was kind of proud of the French for going into Mali. Without them it would have been disastrous. But yeah, SSA is of little geopolitical significance for us, although we are fighting Islamists in Somalia.
