JAJIsama always makes me feel good and think "hell yeah Im making great progress in my learning" but then when the video ends and I try to think something in Japanese it's like the brainless Patrick meme

Hi George. I've been a subscriber for quite a bit and I've always appreciated your ability to explain Japanese concepts. I passed the 日本語能力試験二級 back in '08 or '09 (it was before the test was restructured) but I haven't really had the chance to practice Japanese in over a decade. I was wondering what your suggestion would be to get started with. I used the 日本語完全マスター series back in the day and I've looked at the 日本語新完全マスター books for N1 and N2 but I felt those books didn't sufficiently explain the grammar concepts for me even though I could answer the questions correctly. I was perusing your site and was interested in getting some material but wasn't sure what would be right for me. Any thoughts?

Huh, I thought the ren'yōkei is the closest to the gerund. But using western grammar terms for Japanese grammar is a no-go IMO.

Btw: I call verbs like 走る chemeleon verbs. They are regular verbs in disguise.

I get why you don't like "ru verbs" as a classification system. But I find your system's "regular verbs" hard to remember, because there are "irregular verbs" (する, 来る) and in my mind, regular verbs should be all the verbs that are not irregular, and that's not true in your system. Did you consider alternates names, such as "common verbs" or "ordinary verbs", instead of "regular" which is not truly the opposite of "irregular" here?
