I bought Protools right before they switched to subscription only. Before then I was Fl Studio entirely with some ableton and studio one. As much as I don’t like avid these days, Protools just does it right when it comes to audio. Even recording and mixing my own vocals, I can just get songs done faster. Thanks for the video! I try to use my mouse as little as possible. Instead of dragging the clip down, I Cmd + X, then ; to move down a track, then Cmd + V to paste it, then ‘ to move to first transient, then, to nudge back, then A to trim start, then ‘ to move back to the first transient, then D to fade in.

It’s all extremely quick. I have the clip moved down to the track below, trimmed, and faded, all before the next punch in is done recording.

Same goes for the playlists takes. I just quickly trim and fade them before playlisting them, so that if we end up using that take, I can just cut and paste it down to the track below because it’s already trimmed and faded.

Also, use N when punching in. If they wanna redo the take, you don’t want the insertion to follow playback. That way the punch starts at the same time as the last take. If they wanna move onto the next punch in, you press N so that the insertion follows playback. Then the punch will start from where you paused. You have to hit N before pausing the playback. So when the artist queues that they wanna proceed to the next bar, you hit N then space.
