Chilly morning in Georgia! The house was built in 1815 in a typical I frame house which is very common in the south then expanded on to accommodate a large family and given the Victorian features in the late 1800’s! One of my favorite houses I have ever had the pleasure of filming! I loved everything about this place!! Thanks for watching! Happy new year too everyone!!

My dad bought this house when I was in the 4th grade. He spent a couple of years fixing it, and I remember exploring the house and surrounding outdoors with my sister. There were so many hidey holes and we loved the short time we lived there. I do remember my having a very hard time getting approval to fix a lot of things before he lost the house🙄 shame it has fallen to this state.

Houses like this are called ‘Painted Ladies.’ They sported many different colors of paint on their facades. What a treat to tour. I hope it can be rescued. Stay safe Kappy.

The bathroom upstairs was originally a maid's bedroom. That's why she had her own staircase down to the kitchen. And the small room at the beginning with the window benches may have been a music room. There would have been a piano in there, and the benches were for the violinists and flautists with their music stands in front of them--musical accompaniment for entertaining. I know of another old mansion that had the same type of room, and the owners told me what it was. Lovely old home. Heartbreaking to see the lack of interest in preserving it.

This house is interesting in that it would have been built before the Victorian era, before the curved porches and gingerbread. Six over windows are used in Federal (Colonial) style houses, which is what this one originally was. It was heavily remodeled in the late 1800s when the towers, porch and interior gingerbread details would have been added. The doorknob you thought was from the '20s or '30s is actually from the 1800s. Amazing that all the mirrors in the fireplaces are still intact and not vandalized. I hope the vandals never find it.

Whoever built this house 200 years ago had some money. That house is outstanding and the woodwork is exquisite. This isnthe time I wish I was rich to rehab this beautiful home.
Most southern homes don't have basements because of the low country being below the water table. They usually built their homes higher off the ground to prevent flooding.

This by far is my favorite The fireplaces are magnificent as well as the staircase. I don’t understand why it is not on a registry of historical sites. I am so very grateful to at least get a glimpse at it, thank you!!!

I see a lot of folks are having viewing problems with this video. I however am not. The fireplaces were beautiful. as well as the staircase. And that entrance floor! What a labor to "craft" such an intricate floor! I have never seen a pocket door with that type of hardware! Gorgeous house! Hope it is saved!

WOW !! AND DOUBLE WOW !! This grand old home is absolutely gorgeous !! My house was built in 1890 and it still has all the ornate old wood work still and hasn't been painted. I love all the old fireplaces and that stairway wow ! That wood floor was amazing !! All of theses touches were done when craftsmanship and love was put into a home . I have a real passion for theses wonderful old homes !! Just makes me sick to see it sitting like this !! Neglected and all that garbage in it !! It has survived 200 years and now this is how it sits, all the love it once had it deserves again someone should save this grand old home before its gone for good !! That house is unreal! Do you think there are squatters living there now based on all the stuff and laptops? That house needs to be saved before it gets worse. Nice find as always Kappy, thank you! - John
