Moondrop Starfield Super Review - vs. Tin T4 and BLON

What rhymes with KXXS but costs $80 less? Uh, it's the Moondrop Starfield, a mid-entry-level IEM with a sound tuning that I think almost no one will hate. But will I love it?

I've had these for just over two years now and they have held up to daily use nicely. I love their sound. My first IEM was a three hundred dollar Fii0 and the sound just didn't do anything for me. The bass bled into the mids with heavier bass. I just thought it was the cost of using IEMs. I got the Starfields for a Christmas present and they have been in my ears almost every day since, Now, here's the caveat. Just plugged into my phone or laptop, the sound was just ok, but when I put a dongle like the THX Onyx or the iBasso DC04, they came fully alive. So take that into consideration. I did get an LG V40 and the dac in that phone was absolutely great, But aside from that, any phone or computer just plugged into the jack might not be near as good as with a decent DAC/amp

I get a much more realistic image of what I'm getting with this IEM from your review. There's been loads of hype on these and I was tempted to go out and get a pair. Fortunately i came across this review. Our tonality tastes pretty much coincide so I'm happy to leave them on the shelf. Thanks.

I really do like your reviews and can't wait for them to come out so I know what to next spend my money on...uhhhh...dang it! I especially love the fact that there is not a second wasted...your unboxing is a delight, without being too long, and then the way you describe sound.. even someone like me can understand it. My only disappointment is the fact that my ears are different to you as I'm a bit treble sensitive but once I cater for that, it's all good. Surprisingly the Blon's feel better in my ears than the Starfields, I'm actually jealous they sit so flush in your ears whereas mine seem to stick out a bit more

The Chinese did invent the compass… tho I have my doubts as to that being the reason there is a compass design on them 😂

I love the Blons for the soundstage, its just so different and makes some music sound amazing. If it had more resolution and imaging, it would be the king of lowfi, if it already isnt.

I decided to buy the Starfields after doing research online. (Bundled with a used Blon-03 pair for the same price as a pair of Starfields.) at Ebay instead of the Blessing 2s due to obvious price difference, just got my order today. Both are excellent IEMs, especially the Blons, they don't sound like a cheapo pair of IEMs and easily competes with more expensive IEMs. The stock cable is crap though and needs a decent replacement.

Haven't heard the KXXS but I can imagine them being pretty much obsolete with the existence of the Starfield. The reviews I've read online that compare both IEMs have pointed out that both have a very similar sound signature.

I only paid $ 26.99 for the BL-03. So even with a $30 replacement cable that's one-third the price of the Starfield.

It seems Moondrop nailed offering the successor to the KXXS at a significantly lower price. They should have kept the chrome plating on the Starfield and priced them @ $115.
