I love how you are always showing cool ideas on how to get your practice in for free and explaining the upsides and downsides for us ahead of time.
I have been shooting arrows and throwing at something called Kerdi board.
It is actually expensive but if you know people who lay tile they usually end up with a lot of excess at the end of a job and throw it in the dumpster.
The Kerdi board is a hard kind of Styrofoam that does not break apart into little balls and make a mess and it is coated with a pretty tough waterproof fabric.
I use multiple layers of it for shooting arrows and crossbows into and I use it for backdrops behind my targets sometimes but I think it would be great to put in front of a chunk of wood for axe throwing because I have found it to be very forgiving on my arrows and would probably be less likely to break an axe.

A favorite target of mine that is super easy to make, and really cheap, is just stacked cardboard held together with a couple wraps of duct tape. You technically don't even need the duct tape, you can just fill a cardboard box with sheets of cardboard cut from other boxes until it's fully stuffed. I've found that about 30cm (1 foot) of cardboard will stop pretty much anything you can throw at it, and a lot of things you'd can launch at it since I've used them for bow and crossbow targets.

My accuracy is still pretty bad. I got an old pallet and put some boards across the gaps with wood screws. I spray painted some X on it too. I do plan on buying some Acejet though when I can.

Hey Adam, I love the end grain Targets I got from AceJet. They're everything you say, and yeah, I don't have a forest close by that I can throw knives in, at least where people won't mind. I've found that a spray bottle of water works best on my targets. Not too much water, which I found out by bathtub soaking was too much, and the wood expanded too much, but the spray bottle is just perfect to wet the target, expand the wood a little, and extend the use of the target a lot. Thanks again for all the Superior throwing knives, and now I'm interested in the Finn, as you've stated it's the heaviest one, mmmm

Hey Adam, I couldn't resist, so anyway it's Christmas time, so I got myself 3 more mini vengeance Arrows, and 3 more Stingers. For me, I like the number better, more tricky shots etc... And that's it for the year, I'm pretty sure, haha God bless you man.

I have made my own 'evolutive' grain square target, it is not complicated to strat with, entertaining challenge to make it last. To get a nice target is part of the hobby no ?. I have couple of piece of tree too to alternate because even a patetic thrower like me is generating enough force to put my ownmade target under quite a lots of stress and I haven 't received my Acejet apaches set yet😁.
