This method is a bit outdated. There are so many DDoS methods nowdays that this one is almost obsolete.
An example of that is what if a DDoS happens in status 200 page?.. and what if it's a SYN method?.. This would be helpful only if you're facing a DoS attack, but thanks for sharing your knowledge.. keep it up! Cheers!
