Agree that danault deserves a bigger contract, but with emerging forwards like KK and Suzuki who will have bigger contracts, I see that Danault will not be in the future of the HABS. Bergevin will be thinking about the salary cap moving on. 🤜 🤛

6 years 5, 25 millions is the best I'd actually offer for that amount of time. 5.5 - 6M if its 2-3 seasons.

Danaut made his 50 points (only once) when playing 1st center ice time with nobody challenging his spot. The goal is to have him 2nd or 3rd center in 1-2 season...you can't pay 6.5m a 3rd center. The more the season progress, the more he'll realize that he's not the main guy carrying this offense anymore...we have a lot of depth, 2 centers that may score even more points than he does this season.

Plus, Danaut offensive side always disappears in the playoffs....he's still a valuable shutdown center, be he scores even less points than Lekhonen in the playoffs.

Could Evans step up into a top 3 role with Suzuki and KK and we sign a 4th line veteran like Thompson? Can we move Drouin on a cap dump to make room for more salary for Danault? Lot's of ifs here. Too early to tell. I'm just going to enjoy the depth this season. There will be lots of moves made to keep this team the contender it is today, and having the depth we have puts your destiny in your own hands.

Danault is gonna be part of a trade for Dubois. There is way to many coincidences going on with those two centers.

Are you kidding? Danault is hands down Montreal’s worst centre. Eve Evan’s has proved to be capable to play his role and even add on offence.
The idea that he is an asset is crazy. His guy is always open. Look at the season up into this point. He is on for the majority of the goals against. And he is the veteran!! The fact he turned down the habs offer blows my mind. He will never be offered anything close to that amount on any other team. Montreal is deep. We don’t need to pay 5 million to someone who has a good game shadowing Crosby once every 2 months (0 times this season). He is a number 3 centre at best and in now way do you spend more than 2.5 on a guy like that. I also would t touch Dubois with a fucking 20foot pole. Keep it as is for this season. Danault will be gone after the season with tartar, at that time we can spend on a veteran number 3 centre who can come in at a good price and add another top 4 winger while Canfield works into the spot.

Not even sure I would take Dubois right now with his attitude, though his stock is decreasing so let's see. I love KK, I wouldn't trade him, I would give Drouin and first round pick cause he's so inconsistent.
