The novelisation of this scene was fantastic. "If there was one thing April hated, it was rats." Granted, we saw the foreshadowing when she freaked out after seeing a normal rat outside the studio in the first scene. There's even a screen capture from another angle of her waking up and seeing Splinter up close, and she's got this hilarious look of about to freak out. Everyone was laughing so hard in the theatre during the whole moment of everyone screaming and seeing Mikey hyperventilating.

Leonardo and Michelangello's freak out was funny enough, but Raphael's expression of pure horror and Donatello squeezing the pillow in fear was even funnier.

This clip makes me wanna watch this again. Definitely a classic.

To know that Jim Henson lived long enough to see this film come to life. His Muppets Workshop being responsible for these life-like wonders always makes me appreciate old school practical effects. Sadly, he passed away in the spring of 1990. When SECRET OF THE OOZE was released, the opening credits feature the tagline... IN LOVING MEMORY OF JIM HENSON.
