Instead of using paper bags use mesh bags. As you pick and walk around the mushroom spores that fall off fall through the mesh spreading the spores throughout the forest increasing the harvest for the next season. If you use paper bags all of those wonderful spores are taken home to be thrown away or washed off.

Thank you! The chanterelle almost looks like a flower. Our forest is full of mushrooms, but we have been to nervous to pick them. We have a lot of lions mane that grow from our trees. We have not picked them yet though.

There was a Gilligan’s island episode based on the Professor picking mushrooms using a Mushroom Foraging book by “ The late Professor So and So”
It was a classic.

Thank you so much for this video. I have wanted to harvest mushrooms all my life but I've not dared. We live in Vermont and wanted to find a mentor to teach me about mushrooming but haven't been able to find that special person. I will be ordering the 2 books you've suggested. Great info and God Bless

Well, Brother Josh,
We just got back from our Sam’s run. More beef patties, with cheese and bacon, more 90% lean beef, USDA choice Angus steak, never frozen. And some Oscar Mayer sliced turkey.

But we did just have BLT’s with garden fresh tomatoes and Sugardale bacon, and I’m enjoying an apple from our neighbors apple tree.

As far as mushrooms we eat locally picked morels. They are pretty much the only mushrooms eaten in MO. And people will take up arms if you try and move in on their mushroom hunting spots. The sweet corn has been great this year too.

Even though we have differing opinions on protein, I do thoroughly enjoy your videos. And that helps you pay the bills too:).

We farm chanterelles in Scotland and sell them wholesale for export to the US and Canada. Cooking - try adding some fresh peppermint during the fry. Definitely with butter and a little salt! You can also mix 50/50 with regular field mushrooms. Great as a side dish to venison, steak or lamb. Chanterelles usually like to grow in birch woods.

The wife and I came across a Chicken of the Woods Mushroom the other day while walking our woods. We sautéed and paired it up with a little risotto, it was magnificent…

In Russian we usually call it like “лисички” which literally means “foxes”. I’ve already collected lots of this kind of mushrooms this year
